Being Canada’s second-largest province, Ontario has a larger body of land compared to the sum of France and Spain. Moreover, this province is home to the nation’s capital city, Ottawa, which is home to Parliament Hill. The Canadian province of Ontario is a very popular destination among new immigrants from across the world. The province creates numerous job opportunities for newcomers in diverse industries and in-demand occupations; furthermore, the province offers many special benefits such as free healthcare facilities with prescription medicine coverage for individuals under 25 years of age. Also, Ontario boasts the fourth-highest income rate in Canada.

Some of the popular attractions to name in Ontario are the world-famous Niagara Falls and the Toronto CN Tower. Northern Ontario invites new immigrants to settle permanently in rural communities to boost economic growth. Furthermore, skilled foreign workers can apply through the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) to live and work in this diverse province.

Are you willing to work and live in this multicultural province? It is best to start with researching the in-demand jobs in the province. If you obtain an in-demand job offer, you will secure higher possibilities of being invited to apply for permanent residency in the province. However, before discussing the in-demand jobs, we suggest you learn more about the framework of the OINP so that you can determine your eligibility.

The Framework of the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP)

Under the OINP, there are four streams for Canadian immigration, and specifically in Ontario. Out of these streams, three are aligned under the Express Entry system, and thus, creating an Express Entry profile for these streams becomes a mandatory requirement. This stream invites foreign nationals with different skills, experience, and qualifications to apply, including farmworkers, plumbers, managers, and nurses. Check the different streams under the OINP:

  •       Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) Stream
  •       Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream
  •       Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream
  •       Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream
