Immigration pilots are limited-time programs designed to meet the requirements of specific regions and communities in Canada. The purpose of these pilots is to welcome skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled foreign workers to apply for permanent residence in Canada to fulfill the workforce shortage in the Canadian labour market.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot

Applicants under this pilot include skilled foreign workers who have obtained a valid employment offer from a participating business and foreign graduates who have completed their study from a publicly-funded post-secondary school in any of the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, or Prince Edward Island).

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot

This pilot is similar to the PNP, in which candidates who have obtained a valid job offer from a participating business in the community receive a nomination for permanent residency from the local government. The purpose of this pilot is to meet labour shortages in individual towns.

Agri-Food Immigration Pilot

Applicants under this pilot include unskilled and semi-skilled foreign workers who may not be able to qualify for any other immigration program in the past. Canada experiences a significant shortage in the food production industry, and thus, created this pilot to address the issue. As a result, on an annual basis, around 2,750 permanent resident applications will be processed for foreign farm supervisors, farm labourers, butchers, harvesters, and food processing labourers.
