Statistics Canada in its reports revealed that the employers of the country were actively taking participation in the recruitment process to fill 10 lakh job positions.
Job vacancies Record
The country set a record by having 9,88,300 active job openings in the month of September, last year which was surpassed when Canada saw a leap of 1,86,400 vacancies and reached 10,12,900 in the month of March.
The rate of job vacancies calculates the number of unfilled job positions as a proportion of both filled and unfilled job vacancies and observed a 5.9% of vacant job openings.
The sectors which witnessed an increase in the number of job vacancies are accommodation services, retail services, and food services.
The number of job openings in the food, accommodation, and retail sector amounted to 1,58,100 and 1,09,200 respectively.
Sectors that faced a record-breaking requirement of employees were the healthcare department, construction sector, and social work sector. The number of job vacancies in the social work, healthcare sector, and construction sectors accounted to be 1,54,500 and 81,900 respectively.
The job vacancies were released in all the Canadian provinces but the number of job vacancies was significantly increasing in provinces like Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, and Labrador.
Canadian provinces like British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia witnessed a record-breaking number of job vacancies.

On average, 1.2 people were unemployed in every job vacancy in the month of March, which accounted to be 1.4 in the month of February. The Canadian economy was simultaneously facing the lowest rate of unemployment which accounted to be 5.3%.
The unemployment to job vacancy ratio counted to be 0.8 which resulted in a high labor shortage especially in the province of Quebec whereas the statistics of this ratio in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador accounted to be 4.3
The percentage of job vacancies has continued to decline from the month of September 2021. The Canadian economy witnesses a rise in economic activities in the summer season whereas a decline in the winter season.
The revised data of job vacancies for the month of April is likely to be released in the month of July Whereas the statistical data of wages survey and job vacancies for the first four months of 2022 will be released in June as well.
