The 15th Express Entry draw of 2023 recently occurred, and IRCC issued 4,300 ITAs to candidates. The least CRS score turned out to be 486. This is the second draw to have taken place in June, following the last draw that occurred on June 8. The previous draw issued 4,800 invitations to candidates, while the CRS score was 486.
The category-based selection will now have 82 occupations eligible
On May 31, IRCC declared it would start holding lotteries for Express Entry applicants who fit into six additional categories later in the summer. These are the categories:
- STEM careers – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- Transport
- Healthcare
- Proficiency in the French language
- Agriculture and Agri-Food
- Contractors, Plumbers, and Carpenters – Trades
Invitations to Apply (ITAs) will be issued for these new draws to Express Entry candidates who meet work or language experience requirements in specific occupations within these categories.
Nearly half of all vocations eligible for category-based selection are in the healthcare sector.
Jobs in the STEM fields—science, technology, engineering, and math—also account for a sizable portion.
To be eligible for an ITA, immigration candidates must also exist in the Express Entry pool. Additionally, they must hold work experience in one of the listed occupations.
The highest scorers on the CRS are still more likely to be given an ITA. Thus, a high score is still essential.
According to IRCC, the categories were decided upon after consultations with the provinces, territories, and other interested parties. IRCC will include the results of the draws and their success in its yearly report to parliament. According to the agency, categories are subject to change annually.
15th Express Entry draw of 2023 – defining Express Entry
The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program are three of Canada’s most well-known economic immigration programs, and they are all managed under the Express Entry system.
If a person qualifies for one of these programs, they must upload a profile with IRCC to earn a ranking from the Comprehensive Ranking System. The CRS assesses elements including age, occupation, education, language proficiency, work experience, and other human capital elements. The most likely recipients of an ITA in a future draw are those with the highest scores.
Applicants must give IRCC their final application for Canadian permanent residency within 60 days of receiving an ITA. After reviewing the application, an immigration officer will determine whether the applicant will obtain permanent residence in Canada.
