829 PNP applicants welcomed in Canada

Sean Fraser declared of restarting applications of CEC and FSWP from July

A total of 829 Express Entry profiles have been invited for permanent residence by Canada on April 27.

Candidates attaining a CRS score of 772 points and possessing a provincial nomination from any of the Canadian provinces. The score requirement has been set up higher because of the extra 600 points which are given to every qualifying candidate. Subtracting these additional 600 points will bring back the score to 172 points.

The IRCC had set CRS 787 points for its previous draw for PNP applicants.

Applications of CEC and FSWP to start in July

The Immigration Minister of Canada mentioned from July, the applications for CEC and FSWP categories will be open and the processing time for the applications will remain for 6 months.

The IRCC was only conducting draws for PNP before COVID. It only welcomed top scorer candidates irrespective of the program they were eligible for.

During the early phase of COVID, the IRCC was majorly focused on releasing applications for the CEC category to set a record. CEC applicants majorly stay in the country which eliminates travel restrictions.

The Government of Canada has welcomed over 4 lakh migrants from all around the world in the former year.

The second most focused program by the IRCC was PNP. The IRCC was inviting PNP candidates during COVID-19.

The number of PNP and CEC immigrants was increasing while the number of pending applications also started to increase. This is why the IRCC stopped releasing applications for the FSWP and CEC categories.

The FSWP came into existence in 1967 and since then, it has been the major source through which immigrants were entering the country till the pandemic.

The halt in FSWP has caused a smaller number of immigrants to enter the country and that too during a phase in which there is a high shortage of workers in the country.

The IRCC has targeted to welcome more than fifty thousand permanent residents this year. It was also one of the major categories of immigration. The targeted number has been set low so direct efforts towards TR2PR and other categories.

But the actual aim of the IRCC is to welcome more than one lakh permanent residents to the country.

Express Entry

The online tool through which the Canadian Government organizes immigration applications for FSWP, FSTP, and CEC categories.

The Express Entry practice score-based system. This is called the Comprehensive Ranking System under which the applicants are given points using various criteria methods. Among all applicants, the top scorers are rewarded with ITAs for Canadian Permanent Residency.

Once the applicant completes all the above steps, the personnel of IRCC may evaluate their application. Candidates may be asked to submit their biometrics credentials.

Candidates clearing all the required eligibility criteria receive COPR. Once they are provided a COPR, they can further execute their landing procedure in Canada.

Below is an imaginary example:-

Alia is 35 years old and a Post Graduate in data analytics. She has worked in the same profession for about a decade. Also, she takes the IELTS and scores well enough in all the categories. She enters the Express Entry pool for the first time to apply for the provincial nomination of the province of Nova Scotia. She had a score of 350 CRS points in Express Entry. The moment she submits her application to the province of Nova Scotia, her score rises to 950 CRS points. With this score, she is able to get an Invitation to Apply and can successfully receive the Canadian Permanent Residency.
