An Express Entry all-program draw occurred unexpectedly, and IRCC invited 700 candidates. The least CRS score was 511. This draw was sudden because IRCC had initially announced that it would conduct category-based selection draws for healthcare workers and STEM professions. These draws were to take place on July 5. IRCC claimed that it would be inviting 1,500 workers. Also, it will be interesting to know the CRS scores of each draw.
An Express Entry all-program draw occurred unexpectedly
IRCC even conducted its first-ever Express Entry category-based draw in which 500 healthcare candidates received invitations. The least CRS score turned out to be 476. On the same day, IRCC also revealed that it would conduct the category-based draw for STEM professions this week.
For an all-program draw under Express Entry, the CRS score of 511 was observed as the highest score this year. Comparatively, the previous all-program draw on June 27 issued 4,300 ITAs to candidates, and the CRS score was 486. Moreover, the category-based draw on June 28 had a CRS score of 476. The latest score of 511 is 35 points higher than the draw on June 28.
Express Entry category-based draws
The Express Entry category-based selection draws fall under the segment of a new kind of Express Entry draw. These draws have the objective of bringing in candidates from particular occupational industries or those with in-demand characteristics.
Candidates will become eligible under six new categories:
- STEM occupations – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- Agriculture and Agri-Food
- Healthcare
- Trades – Contractors, Plumbers, and Carpenters
- Transport
- French language proficiency
After the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act underwent amendments in June 2022, category-based selection drawings became available. The modifications allow the immigration minister the power to select potential economic immigrants based on a certain quality that complements Canada’s economic aims or would advance the French language outside of Quebec.
Express Entry
Express Entry is an application management tool that IRCC uses to choose applicants for permanent residency based on their CRS score. The CRS assesses applicants based on various criteria, including age, education, employment history, language proficiency, and more.
The CRS score relies on these variables, and candidates obtain ranks when an eligible Express Entry candidate uploads their profile to the IRCC website. The likelihood that a candidate will get an invitation to apply (ITA) increases with their score under the Comprehensive Ranking System.
The FSWP, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class are the three programs that Express Entry oversees. Each program has distinct eligibility standards, but they are all assessed using the same methodology.
