Between September 1 and 9, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program invited 722 workers with Alberta job offers to apply for a provincial nomination.
Among those invited, 96 were technology workers and 51 were healthcare workers.
Successful applicants can apply for a provincial nomination and, if nominated, submit an application to the federal government for permanent residence.
Workers already in Canada may also be able to apply for a bridging open work permit while their permanent residence application is being considered.
Since June 9, 2026, nominees under the Alberta Opportunity Stream have had access to a faster route for applying for bridging open work permits. Under a federal temporary measure, eligible base provincial nominee applicants can apply for this permit before receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt for their permanent residence application.
