Prince Edward Island invited 195 candidates to apply for provincial nomination on September 17 through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program.
The latest selection focused on workers employed in occupations and sectors considered important to the province’s economy. This follows the selection approach used in earlier draws this year.
Candidates who receive a provincial nomination can move forward with an application for permanent residence in Canada. Provincial nominees may also qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit after submitting their permanent residence application, if they meet the federal requirements.

The latest invitations were issued through two provincial nomination pathways: the Labour Impact Category and the Prince Edward Island Express Entry pathway.
The province gave priority to international graduates from three designated post-secondary institutions:
- University of Prince Edward Island;
- Holland College; and
- Collège de l’Île.
The Labour Impact Category includes the Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate streams.
To receive an invitation, candidates had to show in their Expression of Interest profile that they worked in an occupation or sector being prioritized by the province. They also needed a post-secondary credential from one of the qualifying institutions.
For 2026, Prince Edward Island has identified healthcare, trades, manufacturing and other key industries facing labour shortages as areas of focus for skilled worker selection.
The province’s published results do not identify the specific occupations selected or provide a breakdown of invitations by stream.
Following the latest draw, Prince Edward Island has conducted nine provincial immigration selections in 2026. All nine selections have followed the same main selection criteria.
Unlike 2025, the province has not conducted a selection through its Business Impact Category in 2026. This category is intended for entrepreneurs who want to establish themselves in Prince Edward Island.
As of September 17, the province had issued 1,229 invitations to Labour Impact and Prince Edward Island Express Entry candidates.
Invited candidates have 30 days to submit a complete application to the Prince Edward Island Office of Immigration. Invitations expire if candidates do not submit their applications within this period.
Labour Impact candidates who receive a provincial nomination and later apply for permanent residence may also benefit from a temporary federal measure introduced on June 9, 2026. Eligible applicants in Canada can apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit without first receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt for their permanent residence application.
Prince Edward Island’s Upcoming Selection Rounds
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program plans to conduct 12 provincial immigration selections in 2026, with one selection generally scheduled each month.
The September 17 selection took place on the date listed in the province’s anticipated invitation schedule.
Three selection dates remain on the 2026 schedule:
- October 15
- November 19
- December 17
The province states that these dates are provided for general information only. It may hold selections earlier or later than the listed dates or conduct additional rounds.
Prince Edward Island has generally followed its published schedule. In 2025, the province held eight of 11 selections on their scheduled dates. So far in 2026, eight of nine selections have taken place as scheduled, with only the March selection occurring one day later than planned.
