Second lowest CRS for a Provincial Nominee Program in the pandemic

Canada solicited 775 Express Entry applicants to apply for PR on November 10.

The invited candidates had received nominations via PNP prior to this. Even though provincial nominees without no doubt get you an automatic score of 600, the cut-off was 685. The lowest-scoring candidate would just have 85 scores without the nomination.

IRCC has just been drawing PNP applicants from the Express Entry.  Before this draw, IRCC invited 888 candidates with 744 scores.

The draw contested on November 10 had the 2nd lowest cut-off score in the category since IRCC started conducting PNP-Only draws from March 2020. In march 2021 the lowest draw requirements occurred.

 Why Provincial Nominee Program?

From the very start of the pandemic, IRCC has put it all of its focus on admitting immigrants who are in the country. When the borders were shut even the chance for the applicants for PR was shut.

The conditions that were applied strictly restrain from making any landings from March 2020 to June 2021.

At the time, IRCC usually held Express Entry held draws to invite Provisional Nominee Program and Canadian Experience Class candidates. In 2020, all the programs were held, namely Foreign skilled worker program and foreign skilled worker program Dur for a short time even though the foreign skilled trades program applicants had a draw in august 2020.

IRCC has only contested express entry draw for PNP and CEC applicants since January 2021. The CEC candidates are already in the country while the PNP candidates are trying to get in.

Past 5 years of express entry draws, IRCC has only solicited Provincial Nominee Program applicants  to apply for PR. In case IRCC didn’t invite the applicants, the chance for the provinces to meet the goals that had been set would be difficult which would tick the chance of economic growth and also the population growth strategies.

In summer, IRCC hiked up the CEC draws, by inviting 6000 applicants at a time which was recorded in order to meet the immigration department’s plan to allow 141,00 candidates for the year. Invitations that were issued after July has a chance of not being processed by the end of the year.

Plus, those who are invited in this draw, and the draws for the rest of the year, will likely see their applications processed in the new year. IRCC is planning to concede approximately 108,500 immigrants via express entry. Even though not all who receive the solicitations are promised PRCC has already solicited more than it requires. Besides, the invited candidates’ applications will be processed in the new year.

Now, Immigration Canada is expecting to concede 110,500 Express Entry competitors in 2022. There might be chance that is may change when the new immigrants’ targets are reported.

 What is Express Entry?

The application management system of the country is known as Express Entry. The express entry has three programs lined up under it namely:

  • Canadian experience class
  • Federal skilled trades worker program, and the
  • Federal skilled worker program.

The candidates for the provincial nominee program in the pool are already qualified for any of the programs listed above

The points that you score on your CRS are used by Express Entry to position your profile among others. The candidate with the highest score then receives an ITA for PR.

From this, an officer of IRCC gets in touch and reviews your profile to make the decision. Biometrics may be needed in some cases and in- person interviews may also be set up, sometimes more documents are requested.

After approval, IRCC issues a COPR- Confirmation of Permanent Residency. The permanent residents who are approved are now allowed to complete the arrival process. You can use the pre-arrival services if you are not in the country to guide you through the first steps of becoming a part of the country.
