200 more Express Entry candidate invited through Alberta PNP

On November 9th 200 candidates were sent invitations for a provincial nomination application by Alberta

ANIP or the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program invited over 200 in the Express Entry system who scored at least 343

The latest draw is not the first of its kind, there have been many before, this year the cut-off score was higher than the usual score of 300, which is the minimum score needed in order to be eligible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

With 6,359 Express Entry candidates wanting to apply for the provincial nomination ever since it resumed the rounds for invitation in January. The province had taken a temporary break during the pandemic in the year 2020. The Express Entry pool candidates get invited to apply for a certificate of nomination by the province itself via the regular draws that are held, which will be a huge support and asset to the permanent residency.

This year, the province has been allowed to issue 6,250 certificates for nominations. As the number of invitations issued has exceeded the expected nominations, which means that the province may have already achieved its target.

The working of the program

The Alberta, Express Entry stream is a revised PNP. Which allows the government of the province to search the express entry pool and select the candidates they think are fit or the province.

The application management system of the federal government’s programs is referred to as Express Entry. It has the three following programs listed under it:

  • CEC or Candian Experience Class
  • FSWP or Federal Skilled Workers Program
  • FSTP or Federal Skilled Trades Program

If the candidate qualifies for Express Entry, they receive a score on their CRS or Comprehensive Ranking System. The points are depended on:

  • Work Experience
  • Age
  • Language
  • Education

The immigration department of Canada which is popularly known as the IRCC conducts Express Entry draws on a regular basis and invites the candidates with the highest scores.

It’s quite possible to immigrate with an Express Entry system even if you don’t have a Provincial Nomination, but, the candidates with a low score in their CRS might have to opt for a Provincial Nomination Program. A provincial nomination automatically scores the candidates with 600 points that is later added to the overall score. The lowest-scoring candidate in the new draw receives a nomination, their score will be 900 automatically, which is relatively more than enough to qualify.

The Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the provincial nomination with the Alberta Express Entry, the candidate has to have work experience in an occupation that is qualified.

The program does not give out a list on the jobs that are qualified, but it does offer a list of the jobs that are not qualified. The candidates who apply are a majority of chefs, drivers(trucks), food supervisors.

There are some factors that have the chance of increasing your chance of being nominated under the program, these are:

  • Work experience
  • Canadian education
  • Job offers in the province of Alberta

This also benefits your family members who are already in the province.
