Canada believes in reuniting the families, the primary means of achieving this goal s through the Family class immigration program. This has allowed recent immigrants and citizens to reunite with their loved ones. Every year 80,000 immigrants are welcome through this category.
By chance, if you are a Canadian citizen or you are married to someone from Pakistan or were living with someone for at least a year. You can sponsor them to be permanent residents of Canada.
Getting a permanent residence in Canada will give your spouse the chance of living in Canada, along with this they will be able to utilize the healthcare benefits, work, and be educated.
What is the criteria for eligibility?
In order to be eligible for the sponsorship, your spouse and you have to meet the requirements.
Starting with the first thing, that is age. Your partner can’t be below the age of 18.
The second thing in order to sponsor your partner you need to be a citizen of Canada or if you are registered under the Indian Act of Canada. I addition to this, a Canadian citizen who’s currently living overseas is required to show the IRCC that he or she has an intention to live in Canada with their spouse after they become a permanent resident.
The permanent residence who are sponsoring their spouse to the country, have to be in Canada at the time of application.
As there is no minimum financial requirement when sponsoring your spouse, you will be required a show a financial support plan, that will include both you and your spouse in the plan. This can be done by showing your income which has to be sufficient enough, you’re saving and assets that you can support your family. Also, it’s important to make a note that under the Canadian immigration law, people receiving any kind of social assistance will not be eligible for the program or be able to sponsor family members, or otherwise in case of a disability.
The spouse who has been sponsored has to be at least 18 years old and must qualify for the background, security, and medical checks. The ones with any criminal background might not be allowed, but sometimes can be allowed.
What do you need to know?
The most important step in the sponsorship is that the required documents are provided stating that your relationship with your spouse is genuine and not a means to get permanent residency.
If married, you are required to submit a marriage certificate in addition to other products that are necessary. If you are in relationship (common-law) you will need to provide documents stating that you have lived with each.
If the documents you have given are in your spoken language, you will have to submit a translated document of the same. The translation document has to be verified and have to meet up with the requirements of the IRCC.
The process for the family sponsorship has two applications that have to be submitted:
- The sponsorship application
- The permanent residence
The applications should be submitted at the same time.
You have to be sure that your application is sent out to the right address.
The sponsors living in Quebec will be meeting with requirements t a provincial level.
The applications are subjected to a fee that has be paid when the submission is done.
IRCC takes a year to process the sponsorship application.
