Receiving Canadian permanent residency via CEC

The Canadian Government offers Permanent Residency to workers having Canadian work experience via CEC.

The Canadian Experience Class was brought into existence by Canadian immigration programs in 2008.

The applications of CEC were last released in September, last year. But the pause is lifted and applications for this category will start to be released in July.

Additionally, coming applications are expected to be processed within 6 months.

The execution of CEC is undertaken by the Express Entry system. All the qualifying candidates are provided with a CRS score.

The IRCC conducts draws for Express Entry by releasing invitations to the qualifying immigration candidates for granting Canadian permanent residency.

Below is the detailed procedure for getting a Canadian permanent resident through the Canadian Experience Class

The elemental step starts by looking into the eligibility criteria for CEC

The eligibility criteria of the CEC category demand candidates who have the following

  • The candidate must possess work experience of at least 12 months either in a professional industry or technology industry. The total work experience should be 36 months before submitting the application.
  • The candidate must have attained a score of CLB 5 if working in jobs categorized under NOC B jobs and CLB 7 if working in NOC 0 or A jobs.
  • The candidate must have an intention to reside in Canada but external to the province of Quebec. But in case the candidate has an intention to particularly live in the province of Quebec, he/she must opt for submitting their application to the Quebec Experience Class.
  •  The candidates must have an integrated work experience of a total of 1,560 hours in Canada. The total time of 1,560 can be either accounted for from a full-time job or a part-time job in Canada.
  • The eligibility for CEC does not consider the work experience of applicants who have either worked as self-employed or as students.

Applicants are provided with the choice of either staying in Canada or abroad while submitting the application for CEC.

The Canadian Government considers it valid if applicants have submitted applications while they reside abroad. But the candidate is required to have applied for the program within a time period of 36 months of quitting the job.

The decision of applications of the CEC category is treated with an approved or rejected model.

Applicants qualifying with all the eligibility criteria can get into the Express Entry

Thereafter the candidate needs to head to the official website of IRCC to set up an Express Entry profile. The candidates are then asked to log on to the official website of IRCC to create a valid profile of themselves considering all the given guidelines.

  • Enter all personal details and referral code, if any.

The candidates have a time frame of 2 months to put their Express Entry profile. Once the time is over, the application is canceled.

It further depends on the IRCC, which program they find suits you best after you have submitted the Express Entry profile.
If the IRCC finds it to qualify all the eligibility criteria, you are then moved to the Express Entry pool among other qualifying Express Entry profiles.

All the profiles are given scores after considering their job experience, level of language proficiency, their educational qualification, etc.

The third step is getting a favorable response of invitation from the IRCC for Canadian permanent residency. Candidates need to score higher in order to obtain an invitation and have to get a higher position.  Qualifying candidates are again given a time frame of 2 months to enter a complete application.

The ultimate step is to apply for the immigration program. If the applicant receives an ITA, he/she will be informed of the name of the program they have received the invitation for and all the preceding steps.

All the qualifying candidates are invited to one of the 3 Express Entry programs which are CEC, FSWP, and FSTP.

The IRCC demands to put all the evidence be put in for all the information filled in the application.

The candidate’s applications are then evaluated based on the information they have filled in and the evidence they have provided.

Candidates who might have filled in misleading information in the application will have to suffer. The IRCC may either cancel their application or ban the applicant from applying for any of the Canadian immigration programs for the next 5 years.

The IRCC advises keeping a check on the eligibility criteria of the immigration program you have qualified for. This will ensure that you are still eligible for the immigration program.

If the eligibility criteria changes, the applicant needs to again count the score. If the score has been changed and the applicant’s score is less. The IRCC would have to decline its application.

To decline an application, the IRCC sends the application back to the Express Entry pool. The applicant will be reconsidered for invitation rounds in the future.

There is no hundred percent assurance of getting a future invitation from the IRCC. You can level up your probability of getting into the Express Entry with a comparatively higher score.

If the applicant does not respond in favor of the Invitation to Apply within a time period of 2 months.

The IRCC does not consider and discard such applications.

In such scenarios, the candidate needs to restart the process of applying for Express Entry.

Different immigration ways

Provincial Nominee Program is another medium for immigrating to Canada. The Government of Canada has a vision of welcoming more than eighty thousand immigrants with the help of this program. This vision of the Canadian Government is spread overcoming 2 years.

The IRCC still conducts draws for PNP applicants regularly every 14 days.
If the applicant has an Express Entry profile and qualifies all the eligibility criteria of the program. He/she will be offered a provincial nomination after being granted with additional 600 CRS points to their total score.

Conclusion

CEC is a Canadian immigration program that holds a lot of importance since the time it was introduced in 2008.

In the previous year, a total number of four lakh 5 thousand CEC applicants came to Canada.

This number was equal to two-thirds of the total immigrants who came to the country.

With the initiative of granting work permits to applicants of PGWP.

The Government of Canada is putting its efforts to make more immigrants eligible for the CEC category.

Many statistics have shown that immigrants categorized under the CEC category are more likely to have better job payouts in Canadian labor markets as they already possess Canadian work experience.
