How is work experience is verified in Canada

The IRCC demands various supporting documents as evidence for the work experience mentioned by the applicants. Below is the list of majorly asked documents by the IRCC to verify the work experience of the applicant.

     Reference Letter

At the time of submission of the application, applicants need to provide supporting documents that are kept as proof. The most reliable way to show the work experience of a decade is to show them the reference letter given by the employer. An immigration reference letter is different from a reference letter given by an employer.

In case, if the applicant is self-employed and runs his/her business, then they or needs to submit the following documents

  • Document showing the ownership of the business
  • Income proof of self-employment
  • Any supporting document is given by any third party approving your service

     Contacting the workplace

In some cases, the IRCC may contact your employer to verify certain details regarding the work experience. Contacting the employer by the IRCC has the least probability.

     Verification of business registration

The IRCC may confirm the employment status by asking them to submit the business registration documents. The IRCC can demand the submission of business registration documents to validate the employment history of the applicant. In this process of checking the business registration document, they may look for certain details like the address of the business, contact details mentioned in it, etc.

     NOC code

 An immigration officer will identify the services rendered by the immigrant to identify if the applicant qualifies for the eligibility requirements of the economic immigration program.

The IRCC will draw a comparison between the services attached in the reference letter and the services selected in the NOC code.

The IRCC may consider it fake if the services mentioned by the employer are exactly the same as the NOC code. It may lead to arousal of a red flag situation. So, it is always recommended to add genuine information which was carried by you in reality.

     Additional Documents

In case the IRCC is not satisfied with all the submitted documents, they may ask the applicant to show more documents in favor of work experience.

The demand for submission of additional relies on the IRCC, they may demand any document to validate the work experience.

     Canadian work experience

If the applicant possesses Canadian work experience, they are asked to submit the tax documentation.  

A tax document will show that the applicant wasn’t self-employed.

Any applicant who has been self-employed in Canada does not qualify for the eligibility criteria of CEC 

Applicants who possess Canadian work experience are required to submit proof of work permit as well as a study permit.

Submission of work and study permit will satisfy the IRCC, that the applicant has worked with a valid authorization and was not engaged in full-time work while he/she was enrolled in a study program.

Candidates who do not attach their reference letter granted by their employer are considered incomplete applications and are returned to their respective applicants.

In case the application is returned by the Immigration Officer, there are high chances of incomplete information filled by the applicant.

And in the opposite case, the applicant has to wait to receive an ITA from the IRCC.

Attaching a self-attested legal affidavit is not considered valid proof of work experience.

In such cases, the IRCC will return the application as it requires valid proof of work experience.

 Applicants who choose the path of submitting false information or attaching a self-written reference letter are counted under misrepresentation.

If an applicant is found doing such false actions, he/she may be completely banned for 5 years from Canada.
