Express Entry 2022 in a nutshell

Express Entry 2022, in a nutshell, confirms a unique year with all program draws that resumed on July 6. With this resumption of Canada’s Express Entry draws that took a long break in 2020, IRCC can progress toward resolving the pre-pandemic targets. Moreover, this entire year, the department has worked to improve the backlog situation and enhance the immigration targets.

Express Entry manages immigration applications online for skilled workers and economic-class immigrants.

This management system supports aspiring applicants who seek to come to the country under the Federal High Skilled immigration program.

Now, for instance, if an Express Entry applicant meets the essential criteria, he must take the next step by collecting all essential documents and putting up the profile on IRCC’s official website.

Next, these candidates will further receive scores under the Comprehensive Ranking System and rank candidates against each other in the pool of Express Entry.

Moreover, candidates scoring higher will have greater chances of receiving an ITA for permanent residence.

Express Entry 2022 in a nutshell- ITA’s issued

Express Entry candidates received a total number of 46,538 ITA’s in the past twenty-three draws in 2022. This figure is a major contribution between January and July and applies to Provincial Nominee Program’s candidates. Additionally, the number of ITAs applicable to all-program draws for this entire year turned out to be 35,750.
Sean Fraser declared in 2021 about the resumption of all program draws this year. On July 6, 2022, 1,500 candidates received ITAs. The number of ITAs issued this year has been lesser compared to previous draws because there was a long pause of six months before the draws actually resumed. The first draw after the long break turned out to be the smallest one; it took place on July 6, 2022.
Post the first draw on July 6, ten other draws occurred, which saw gradual increments in the number of invitations. This happened with each draw as the number of candidates receiving ITAs increased by 250 or 500. Finally, candidates received 4,750 ITAs on October 26, November 9, and November 23.

Express Entry 2022- CRS scores

The latest Canada Express Entry draw observed the lowest CRS score of 491. After the draws resumed in July, a gradual decline of 66 points took place over the following ten draws. However, the CRS score for July’s first draw was 557.

Once the draws returned back to their normal pace, each draw witnessed a decline in the CRS minimum scores. A decline of about six to eight points could be seen in the initial draws. The previous draws also experienced the smallest reductions between two and four points.

Upcoming changes under Express Entry for 2023

The latest version of NOC

This year, on November 16, IRCC underwent a major shift from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021. According to the NOC 2016, Express Entry candidates had to show work experience based on NOC skill types O, A, or B. However, now the NOC’s updated version (NOC 2021) has drastically transitioned to the Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities, that is, the TEER system.

The new NOC system works with the objective of comprehending a candidate’s qualifications and experience in a better way. This will further ensure that the candidate is a perfect fit for the Canadian labor force.
Additionally, the TEER system now comprises 16 new occupations for Express Entry programs.

Targeted Draws

In June, Bill C-19 was appreciated and passed with Royal Assent in the Canadian parliament. This Bill enables Sean Fraser, the immigration minister, to have complete control over inviting Express Entry candidates based on their ability to meet economic requirements. Hence, he will select candidates with an emphasis on economic needs rather than the CRS scores.
According to the immigration minister, Express Entry is already a powerful source of competitive edge for the country. However, the Express Entry system can still improve. He further stated that the best time to make these improvements is at present due to the ongoing economic challenges. Moreover, he continued that they didn’t have the capacity to modify the invitations to meet the in-demand qualifications or skills. The targeted draws based on occupations will more likely begin in 2023 during the spring season.
