A new immigration pilot introduced for New Brunswick

A new immigration pilot called the New Brunswick Critical Worker Pilot was recently announced by New Brunswick’s provincial government. This new pilot is a joint initiative between the federal and provincial governments. Overall, it aims to deal with the acute labor shortage in New Brunswick. Additionally, it will offer immigration to New Brunswick and also provide settlement services to newcomers. This implies that it will teach them essential skills and offer language training.

The immigration minister for New Brunswick, Mr. Arlene Dunn, stated that employers would get an opportunity to fill urgent job positions and witness purposeful work in a warm environment.

Moreover, this new pilot solves two major issues; firstly, it deals with massive labor shortages, and secondly, it helps retain newcomers by identifying a sense of purpose in work.

The following six chosen employers under NBCWP are:

  • McCain Foods;
  • Cooke Aquaculture Inc;
  • Groupe Westco.;
  • Groupe Savoie Inc;
  • J.D. Irving Ltd.;

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program selected these employers based on their flawless and excellent track record. Besides this, their qualities include their potential to carry out a perfect hiring process and their ability to keep the settlement programs together. Participating employees must remember the following key points:

  • Ensure to provide solid settlement plans concerning housing and transportation. Consequently, this will help them settle into their jobs, and they will likely stay longer.
  • Plan your human resources well to recruit skilled international students and enhance their skills for their current jobs.
  • Train the candidates to improve their language proficiency for up to 200 hours.
  • Must help candidates pursuing education equivalent to Canadian secondary education.

The new immigration pilot will be a five-year program with regular analysis and evaluation. Additionally, this pilot program will respond to immigration requirements and help provinces achieve their desired results.

Also, Groupe Savoie Inc.’s President and COO stated that Saint-Quentin is grateful toward its newcomers, and they look forward to welcoming more newcomers in New Brunswick.
