Provinces and territories in Canada function on their PNPs, excluding Quebec and Nunavut. Candidates who seek to apply for permanent residence also have the opportunity to be invited to apply for PR through these programs.
The PNP has introduced a long time ago, in 1998, and only welcomed 400 immigrants but over time has witnessed over 80,000 people coming over to Canada. The federal and provincial governments recognized PNP as an appropriate way to contribute to its economy and develop it further.
Usually, Express Entry draws are conducted once every two weeks. IRCC continues conducting the all-program draws after a long haul. These draws were resumed a month ago on July 6. The first draw after the pause invited 1.500 candidates with a minimum score of 557 as per the Comprehensive Ranking System. The latest Express Entry draw for all programs was held on August 3 and 2000 invitations were sent to candidates with a low CRS score of 533.
Alberta and British Columbia conducted PNP draws and declared their results.
PNP draw results (July 29 to August 4)
Alberta
On July 29, Alberta Advantage Immigration Program sent over 120 invites to candidates so that they can apply for a Provincial Nomination under the stream of Alberta Express Entry. A minimum CRS score of 473 was expected from the candidates, implying an increase compared to the previous score of 300 as per the previous draw on June 16.
PNP candidates who have already created their Express Entry profiles will get an additional 600 points contributing to the CRS score.
If candidates have got a Provincial Nomination from Alberta, their CRS score will now be 1073. This will increase their chance of receiving an invitation to apply from IRCC.
Candidates must participate in the Express Entry pool to qualify for the provincial nomination under the Alberta Express Entry Stream. The candidates must also display a good connection with Alberta, whether your relative or family member residing in Alberta or he must possess a valid job offer. They must be able to prove their intention of settling in Alberta permanently.
British Columbia
This week, British Columbia sent invitations to over 164 candidates to apply for a Provincial Nomination in the province. The draw took place on August 3. Provincial Nomination draws are usually held on a weekly basis in B.C. This week’s draw wasn’t a general one but was based on targeted categories to reduce the existing gap in the labor force of British Columbia.
The skilled worker and international graduate category comprised 133 candidates receiving invites during a targeted draw specific to tech occupations. A minimum score of 90 under the Skilled and Immigration Registration System (SIRS) was expected from candidates.
SIRS applies specifically to B.C PNP draws only and is similar in its features to the Comprehensive Ranking System.
The province of British Columbia even conducted invitation rounds for those employed in the following occupations:
- 22 Early Childhood Educators & Assistants, with a minimum score of 60.
- 9 Health Care workers- Minimum score of 60.
The draws are similar to those on July 26.
