Alberta holds two targeted draws for provincial immigration, i.e., the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) recently conducted two new draws, inviting more skilled workers to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence (PR).
Both draws focused on priority sectors that the province has identified as critical to Alberta’s labour market needs.
Summary Of AAIP Draws: June 20 – June 25
In the last ten days of June, Alberta issued invitations through two separate immigration streams. Each draw had different minimum cut-off scores and targeted candidates with experience in priority fields.
Date | Stream | Cut-Off Score | Number Of Invitations |
June 25, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors – Construction | 67 | 15 |
June 20, 2025 | Alberta Opportunity Stream – Agriculture | 52 | 118 |
How Many More AAIP Invitations Remain In 2025?
As of July 2, Alberta has issued 2,688 nominations out of its total allocation of 4,875 for this year. That leaves 2,187 nominations still available for candidates hoping to secure a pathway to Canadian PR through Alberta’s provincial streams.
Here’s how the nomination numbers look by stream, along with how many Expressions of Interest (EOIs) remain in each candidate pool:
Stream | Nomination Allocation | Nominations Issued | Nominations To Be Issued | EOIs In Candidate Pool |
Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors | 405 | 223 | 182 | 4,185 |
Alberta Opportunity Stream | 2,592 | 1,524 | 1,068 | 39,979 |
What Is The Alberta Opportunity Stream?
Alberta holds two targeted draws for provincial immigration. The Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) is designed for temporary foreign workers who are already living and working full-time in Alberta.
To qualify under the AOS, candidates must hold a valid, full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation. They also need to have either a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or a valid LMIA-exempt work permit.
In addition, AOS applicants must meet requirements related to residency, type of work permit, occupation, language proficiency, education, and relevant work experience. This stream helps Alberta keep talented workers who are already contributing to its economy.
What Is The Alberta Express Entry Stream?
Alberta’s Express Entry Stream aligns with the federal Express Entry system, giving the province the power to nominate skilled workers with active Express Entry profiles.
Candidates may be invited to apply if they have experience in Alberta’s priority sectors. For this recent draw, the construction sector was a key focus, along with ongoing needs in agriculture and aviation.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream also features special pathways tailored to address critical labour shortages in areas such as health care, technology, and law enforcement:
- The Dedicated Health Care Pathway
- The Accelerated Tech Pathway
- The Law Enforcement Pathway
These focused draws show Alberta’s commitment to attracting skilled workers who can meet current and future labour demands. For skilled workers looking to settle in Alberta, staying informed about these targeted draws can open doors to permanent residence and a new future in Canada.
