Alberta invites applicants for provincial immigration. The province held a draw on June 3, 2025, and focused on immigration applicants who had job offers from Alberta employers in the healthcare sector.
A total of 36 invitations were issued to healthcare professionals.
The latest draw, conducted through Alberta’s Express Entry-aligned Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, represents the sixth of its kind this year.
The minimum score applicants must have had to obtain an invitation was 60.
Pathway | Number of invitations issued | Cut-off score |
Dedicated Health Care Pathway (Express Entry) | 36 | 60 |
To have been considered under the Express Entry-aligned Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, applicants were required to be in one of the eligible healthcare professions listed below.
In addition, there are nine eligible professions. Below is each profession, along with the corresponding regulatory body responsible for proof of ability to practice in Alberta:
Profession | Regulatory body |
Physician | College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) |
Registered nurse | College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) |
Licensed practical nurse | College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) |
Nurse practitioner | College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) |
Physician assistant | College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) |
Occupational therapist | Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) |
Physiotherapist | College of Physiotherapists of Alberta (CPA) |
Clinical social worker | Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) |
Psychologist | College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) |
Along with processing a qualifying job offer in an eligible healthcare profession and providing evidence of meeting regulatory body requirements, applicants needed to qualify under a federal Express Entry program and have an active profile in the pool.
Further, selection criteria mandated that applicants have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 and have their primary profession in the Express Entry portal be in one of the eligible healthcare professions listed above.
All healthcare professionals were required to demonstrate an intent to reside and work in Alberta.
Provincial Nomination Figures
As Alberta invites applicants for provincial nomination, the province also obtained 4,875 slots for its 2025 nomination allocation. To date, 2,276 provincial nominations have been issued through its various immigration streams and pathways.
On its official webpage, the AAIP features data related to each respective pathway, including:
- The number of nominations to be issued
- The number of nominations already issued
- The number of nomination spaces still remaining
- The number of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) currently in the selection pool
When it comes to data pertaining to the province’s Dedicated Healthcare Pathways, the above-mentioned information is combined, implying that both pathways are taken into account.
Moreover, at the time of writing, these are the numbers for Alberta’s Dedicated Healthcare Pathways:
Pathway | Nomination allocation for 2025 | Nominations issued in 2025 | Nomination spaces remaining for 2025 | EOIs in the selection pool |
Dedicated Health Care Pathways (Express Entry and non-Express Entry) | 500 | 170 | 330 | 1,507 |
Additionally, the AAIP is currently processing 116 applications received on or before April 10, 2025.
