Alberta conducted the 2nd draw of the year on 18th January. They sent 350 invites to Express Entry candidates. The invites were sent under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) and to the applicant who had the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 346.
The applicants who received the invite may have a checklist marked for the requirements of the Alberta Express Entry stream. Once they get a nomination under the stream so their chances of getting permanent residency increase. After getting the nomination, they can request under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Applicants under the Express Entry get the advantage if they have the nomination.
The province also announced Accelerated Tech Pathway for tech professionals last month. So if any tech expert is looking to expedite the process, they can apply for this pathway.
Alberta Express Entry stream
The basic step is to create a profile on the federal immigration system, Express Entry.
Express Entry is a platform to manage the three Federal High Skilled programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
If you have the eligibility for the Express Entry, after updating the details, you get CRS scores. The scores are given according to the demographic details that you submit.
The federal immigration department conducts regular draws to invite applicants to apply for PR.
If an applicant decides to go through the federal system instead of PNP, it is possible. However, if they get a nomination, it gives an edge by giving an extra 600 to their CRS.
Eligibility
For the Alberta Express Entry stream, applicants should have a professional background in any of the eligible occupations.
The AINP furnishes a list of ineligible professions. The majority of the applications are received under food service supervisors, transport truck drivers, and cooking professionals. As per the provincial authorities, they are processing these applications takes a while because of the high volume.
Professional experience, a local degree, or a job contract in the province are all characteristics that promote your options of getting selected. It also helps if you have a close relative, such as a parent, kid, or sibling, who lives in Alberta.
It suffices to say that you must also satisfy the Express Entry qualifying standards. The threshold has been kept at 300 for CRS. If you indicated in your profile that you are interested in permanently relocating to Alberta, they might send you a “Notification of Interest” invite. After you get the NOI, you can request a nomination from Alberta.
