British Columbia and Manitoba issued the latest PNP nominations

British Columbia and Manitoba issued the latest PNP nominations recently. The Provincial Nominee Program draws occurred last week. Due to the fact that immigration is a combined responsibility of the federal and provincial governments, provinces are able to recommend individuals for Canadian permanent residency. Each province receives an annual allotment of nominations from IRCC. These allotments would enable them to invite applicants who would be a good fit for the province’s labor and economy.

For instance, Alberta stated on August 9 that it sent 6,527 of the 9,750 nominations out of the allocations for 2023. Provinces only got allocations on an annual basis up until March of this year. However, this will change going forward as the IRCC unveiled the first multi-year provincial immigration levels plan.

Knowing the number of newcomers, they can designate is essential for provinces. As a result, they can expect to be better able to plan enough infrastructure, including housing, schools, and healthcare, to accommodate the newcomers.

There were three draws in the province. The biggest draw was a general draw for candidates in the Express Entry, Entry-Level, Semi-Skilled, International Graduate, and Skilled Worker categories.

Entry-level and semi-skilled candidates required a score of 88, while skilled workers and international graduates required a minimum of 107. The British Columbia-specific Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), comparable to the federal Comprehensive Ranking System, is the basis for scores.

The other two draws occurred for targeted occupations for international graduates, skilled workers, and Express Entry pool candidates. British Columbia invited the following:

  • Thirty-Four Early Childhood Educators and Assistants and;
  • Twenty-Two from Healthcare Sector

Candidates in these two draws required a least SIRS score of 60.

Manitoba

On August 10, Manitoba released 615 expressions of interest.

In four successive lotteries, the province welcomed candidates from three categories. The largest required a minimum score of 605 and invited 249 candidates with specified employment for those in the category of skilled workers in Manitoba. The following two professions were taken into consideration by the province under the NOC 2021 significant groups:

  • Machine Operators, Processing Assemblers and Inspectors, Manufacturing, and Printing – 94
  • Laborers in Processing, Manufacturing, and Utilities – 95

In a generic (non-occupation specific) draw, 279 extra-skilled people obtained invitations with a minimum score of 647.

With a minimum score of 708, the final two draws invited 47 candidates from the international education stream and 40 from the skilled workers overseas stream.
