British Columbia has conducted its largest provincial immigration selection round of the year. On July 16, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited 569 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination under its Skills Immigration (SI) category.
The invitations were issued to candidates who qualified under one of two selection criteria. Applicants either met the minimum registration score requirement or had a qualifying job offer in a high-skilled occupation with a specified wage level.
This was the 16th provincial immigration draw conducted by British Columbia in 2026. Out of these, nine selection rounds have targeted candidates through the Skills Immigration category.

Invitations were distributed across the two criteria as follows:

This selection round issued the highest number of registration score-based invitations among all Skills Immigration draws held by British Columbia so far in 2026.
These selection criteria are part of British Columbia’s Innovate initiative. Through this initiative, the province selects highly skilled candidates who can make a strong economic contribution across different industries.
The province did not publish any information about the occupations or sectors of the candidates invited in this draw.
British Columbia has also confirmed that future Skills Immigration draws may target candidates based on different provincial priorities. The province may consider one or more of the following factors:
- The level, field, and location of a candidate’s education
- A professional designation held in the province
- Duration and skill level of the candidate’s work experience
- Language ability
- Occupation
- The wage and/or skill level of the candidate’s job offer
- Intention to establish residence and employment in a specific region
- Strategic priorities related to provincial labour market needs, government pilots, or other initiatives
So far in 2026, British Columbia has conducted six Skills Immigration draws using these same selection criteria, along with three additional draws that focused on candidates working in high-demand occupations.
As of July 16, the province has issued at least 3,676 invitations through its Skills Immigration category this year.
How Does The Skills Immigration Registration Pool Work?
Foreign nationals interested in applying through the Skills Immigration category must first create an online registration, also known as an Expression of Interest (EOI).
The province assigns each candidate a score based on the information provided in the registration. The system then places candidates into the appropriate registration pool.
British Columbia regularly reviews these pools and invites the highest-ranking candidates to apply for a provincial nomination during scheduled selection rounds.
As of July 7, the latest figures show that the BC PNP registration pool contained 8,683 active profiles.
