British Columbia invites immigrants through New PNP draw

A total of 160 candidates will enter the province of British Columbia through Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw which was held on February 22.

The province will be inviting candidates from the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.

Invitations will be given to international students and Skilled workers of Entry-level and Semi-skilled categories.

The candidates will receive the invitation if their score lies between 77 and 125, also depending on the program they are eligible for. Most of the invitations were sent through a general draw.

One more draw that calls for the candidates whose profession falls under the category of NOC 0621 which consists of Wholesale trade managers and retail managers and NOC 0631 which consists of foodservice managers and restaurant managers. Invitations will be sent to only 15 applicants whose minimum score is 125.

It’s been a year now since the province of BC started carrying out a separate round of invitations two times in 30 days specifically for these 2 professions. The reason for conducting separate draws is to eliminate a large number of registered candidates coming from these specified labor market sectors who have registered themselves in the Immigration Skills Registration System.

How BC PNP works

The BC PNP mainly focuses on inviting workers who look forward to permanently settling in Canada from around the globe possessing high-demand skills that the province requires.

B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System manages the 2 streams of BC PNP that are Express Entry and Skills Immigration which are further categorized. Candidates willing to apply through SIRS need to set up a profile. Then the candidates are rewarded with scores based on education qualification, work experience, language proficiency, etc.

Candidates with the highest scores from each category become eligible for provincial nomination to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency whenever the province

Candidates getting the invitations will have a time limit of a month to complete the application procedure via the portal of BC PNP.

The province will deliver its decision within 60-90 days once you are complete with your application procedure. If the decision is positive, you become eligible to apply for a Canadian Permanent Residency through IRCC. The nomination holds its validity for 6 months from the date of confirmation.

The perks of becoming a provincial nominee are that you are awarded 600 CRS points which makes you eligible for getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
