British Columbia sends 157 invitations for Provincial Nomination

BC PNP sent 157 invitations to candidates to apply in British Columbia’s invitation draw on weekly basis. The draw was conducted on July 14, 2022. British Columbia is the only Canadian province that sends weekly invitations to candidates.

The draw results- General

BC PNPs generally invite candidates through targeted and general draws on the basis of in-demand occupations.

The general draw had around 138 invitations sent with scores falling between 76 and 123 under the Skilled Immigration Registration System (SIRS) minimum score category depending on the pathway.

  • A minimum score of 109- Skilled Worker
  • A minimum score of 123-EEBC skilled worker
  • A minimum score of 96- International Graduate
  • A minimum score of 106- EEBC International Graduate
  • A minimum score of 76- Entry Level and Semi-Skilled

The draw results- Targeted

British Columbia recently held Targeted draws for those candidates who met the minimum requirements under the specified NOC for provincial in-demand occupations such as the Healthcare and Tech occupations.

The targeted category had the SIRS score of 60 only. British Columbia invited the following number of candidates:

  • 12 for the (NOC 4214) for the Early Childhood Educators.
  • 7 for healthcare occupations
  • Below 5 for Priority occupations – (NOCs 3114 and 3213)

SIRS in a nutshell

SIRS is similar to the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) and it requires the candidates applying as skilled workers to score as per the standard set by SIRS and get ranked based on their human capital features.

To score under SIRS, the skilled worker candidates are supposed to create a SIRS profile.

Options for BS PNP streams

For immigrating to British Columbia as a skilled worker you’re left with two options:

  • The Express Entry British Columbia Stream
  • The Skilled Immigration Stream

Skills Immigration Stream

The Skills Immigration stream applies to healthcare professionals, skilled workers, international graduates, semi-skilled workers, entry-level workers, and post-graduates.

All the candidates excluding the international postgraduates will require a valid job offer or they should be already working in British Columbia.

There are five pathways included in Skilled Immigration, they’re as follows:

Category of Skilled Immigration

The candidates must hold a valid job offer and at least two years of experience in NOC type O, A and B’s skilled occupation.

Category of Healthcare Professionals

There are 11 separate healthcare occupations for this category and targeted draws are conducted in British Columbia to fill the labor force shortage.

Category of International Graduates

The international graduates must have completed their graduation from an eligible university in Canada in the recent three years and should also hold a valid job offer from an employer in British Columbia.

Category of International Post Graduates

Post Graduates having a Master’s degree or Doctoral degree from an eligible university in Canada without any job offer.

Their graduation must concern Natural or Applied Health Science.

Category of Entry-Level or Semi-Skilled Workers

This category of Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled Workers concerns those candidates who’ve got an experience in the Hospitality sector, Tourism, Food Processing, and Long-Haul Trucking.

Apart from this, candidates having experience in other fields at Entry-Level or Semi-Skilled would belong to the Northeast development region of British Columbia.

Express Entry BC Stream – EEBC

Express Entry British Columbia works closely with the federal government’s Express Entry system of immigration. This allows candidates to get their BC PNP applications processed faster along with their permanent residency applications (if nominated).

The Express Entry British Columbia candidates can also include their provincial nomination with their IRCC application to get an increased score with additional 600 points.

Skilled immigration categories to be processed under the BC PNP are as follows:

  • Category of Skilled Workers
  • Category of Healthcare Professionals
  • Category of International Graduate
  • Category of Postgraduate

Category of Entrepreneurs

There are three streams from which the category of Entrepreneurs must choose, they’re as follows:

  • Base Level– Concerns the senior level managers or business owners who make funding investments for specific businesses in British Columbia.
  • Regional Pilot– This category is for those candidates who aspire to create new businesses in smaller communities of British Columbia.
  • Projects Category– This category applies to companies that are controlled by foreign companies and also to those businesses that wish to set up operations in BC. This program allows for receiving the provincial nomination for up to five Managerial, Professional, and Technical Staff.

Conclusion

The most recent Express Entry Draw that took place on June 8 sent invitations to 932 PNP candidates with a minimum CRS score of 796. This was also the largest PNP draw since March 2, 2022.
