Canada Express Entry System: an all-inclusive guide

Canada Express Entry is the primary method to fetch international skilled workers to Canada through permanent residency status.

Many a time, people confuse Express Entry with a program for Canadian immigration. However, it is not so because it is simply a pathway toward accomplishing Canadian immigration. Also, Express Entry is a system that functions online and manages the applications of skilled workers under three chief programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the FSTP, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry steps

To understand it entirely, have a look at the various steps under the Express Entry system:

Knowing whether you have the eligibility for programs

The first step included in the Canadian immigration process will be to understand whether you hold eligibility for any of the three available programs or not. The programs here fall under the Canada Express Entry system. Aspiring applicants can check their program eligibility by answering questions or getting all the details of the eligibility conditions. Checking the minimum essential requirements will give you a fair idea about your eligibility.

Create an Express Entry profile and determine your CRS score

Once you understand your eligibility status, the next step will essentially require you to develop a profile and submit it to IRCC.

This step will comprise supporting documents you must attach with the profile. Most importantly, you must attach the Education Credential Assessment and the language test result.

IRCC already provides interested candidates with a document checklist to ensure the submission of a complete application. You will also get the checklist for your electronic application for permanent residence.

After submitting your profile to IRCC, make sure you get the CRS score under the Comprehensive Ranking System. IRCC provides this score as this is the most crucial factor in determining your possibility of Canadian immigration.

Patiently wait for the Invitation to Apply

Post-submission of your Express Entry profile and attaining the CRS score, IRCC will give its decision regarding the ITA for Canadian permanent residency.

Foreign skilled workers can make their dream of permanent residence possible through the ITA. These invitations are sent only during Express Entry draws usually held once every two weeks.

A new set of immigration candidates receive invites during each draw based on the different CRS scores that are fixed as the minimum scores.

Those candidates receiving the most superior scores are able to obtain the invitation to apply. Once you receive the ITA receipt, you get only sixty days to submit your complete application for Canadian PR.

Next step of submitting the electronic application for PR

The second last step will be to submit the complete eAPR. With the availability of just sixty days for application submission, make sure you have all possible documents ready. The documents you would certainly need are birth certificates, medical test results, and funding proof. Ensure to visit the Canadian government’s official website.

Within this step, you must pay all required fees associated with the application, medical tests, and police verification of your background.

Once you complete all the necessary actions, you’ll be ready to submit your complete application for permanent residence in Canada.

IRCC will decide your application status- wait for their response

IRCC will take its time to process your PR application and you will simply need to wait for their decision. The department commits to processing maximum applications that are accurate and also comprise the essential documents within six months. 80 percent of applications under the Canada Express Entry system will be processed within six months.
