IRCC held the seventh-largest express entry draw of 2023 today.
The IRCC, i.e., Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, sent invitations to over 7000 candidates with a minimum CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score of 490.
The number of ITAs in this draw has beaten the previous record of 5500 candidates invited in the last all-program draw. In an all-program draw, the candidates are considered from all the Express Entry Programs. They are:
- FSWP (Federal Skilled Worker Program)
- FSTP (Federal Skilled Trades Program)
- CEC (Canadian Experience Class)
This largest Express Entry draw broke the program pattern that had been taking place over the last two months. If we talk about the previous all-program draw, there have been four program-specific rounds of invitation, i.e., three for PNP and only one for FSWP candidates. The most recent draw was PNP-only, wherein over 697 candidates received ITAs on March 1.
Before 2023, all the Express Entry draws that took place between July and November 2022 were all program draws, wherein over 1000 candidates were invited. After that, however, the number of candidates grew as the CRS score decreased!
IRCC released the 2021 Express Entry Data
As per the IRCC reports, the Express Entry Data of 2021 was a unique year in the program’s history!
Beginning in December 2020, all program draws ceased to lighten the backlog caused by the pandemic-related travel restrictions. As a result, IRCC continued to obtain ITAs in CEC (Canadian Experience Class) & PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) till September 2021. After that, CEC draws were also paused.
In 2021, over 114431 ITAs were issued, and no programs Express Entry Draws were held further. However, the largest Express Entry draw is today!
Returning to the Express Entry draw of 2021, all 42 draws were program-specific, and no ITAs were provided.
Over 64% of ITAs were provided to recipients between the ages of 20 and 29. Under the CRS, candidates under this age bar received 100 CRS points. However, the points get reduced after they turn 30.
Because of such pauses, most ITAs were given to Canadian candidates living as temporary inhabitants. Other nationalities for ITA included:
- Canada (102806 ITAs)
- People’s Republic of China (687 ITAs)
- India (3826 ITAs)
- USA (806 ITAs)
- Nigeria (1432 ITAs)
Express Entry: What It Is?
The Express Entry application management system, supervises three programs, i.e., CEC, FSWP, and FTSP. Candidates in PNP, i.e., Provincial Nominee Program, are eligible for just one Express Entry Program.
Express Entry programs rank the applicants using a CRS, i.e., a Comprehensive Ranking System. The scores in this system depend on one’s work experience, education, human resources, etc. Applicants receiving high scores can further apply for permanent occupancy.
To complete and submit the application form, a candidate is given 60 days. Further, an IRCC officer reviews the entire application and decides whether the candidate is approved or not!
