Canada invites candidates in the first CEC draw of November. The department issued 400 ITAs in a Canadian Experience Class draw. Moreover, applicants required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score of 547 in order to be considered. This is the highest CRS for CEC draws so far.
The most recent draw before this took place on November 12 and invited 733 applicants in a Provincial Nominee Program -aligned draw.
The recent draw is the second of November and follows the release of Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2025. Under the Plan, IRCC aims to welcome around 124,680 Express Entry candidates next year.
Those who obtained an ITA will be considered in targets for next year, either via the newly introduced In-Canada Focus targets for Express Entry candidates or the Federal Economic Priorities category.
The In-Canada focus target of 82,980 permanent resident admissions will have the biggest impact for temporary residents already living in Canada. This accounts for approximately 40% of Canada’s overall economic immigration admissions in 2025.
Moreover, many of these candidates will be Express Entry candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The Federal Economic Priorities target of over 41,700 permanent resident admissions will single out candidates from all Express Entry-managed programs. IRCC judges these candidates to be the best candidates to fill urgent gaps in healthcare or trade professions or help the department meet its demographic target for French language proficiency among newcomers outside of Quebec.
What Is Express Entry?
Canada invites candidates in the first CEC draw of November
Well, Express Entry is an application management system that oversees three prominent economic immigration programs for newcomers seeking permanent residence, i.e., the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
Applicants in these programs are evaluated using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The CRS assigns point-value scores to candidates based on human capital attributes such as their age, profession, language ability, education, and work experience.
They might also get points for having a sibling in Canada, immigrating with a spouse or partner, or having a combination of education or work experience in Canada and abroad.
Express Entry candidates who apply via the enhanced PNP stream might get an additional 600 points toward their score.
Taken together, these point values add up to an overall CRS score. Also, those with the highest scores are likely to get an invitation to apply in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
