New measures of immigration for people affected by the Ukraine conflict

The Canadian Government is adopting considerable measures to assist the citizens affected by the Ukraine conflict.

  • The Canadian Government is trying to accelerate the procedure of new and replacement passports and travel-related documentation so that the Canadian citizen and permanent residents residing in Ukraine can come back to the province of Canada as soon as possible. This also includes the immediate family members of the citizens/residents coming along.
  • The Government of Canada is preferring the applications from people residing in Ukraine for the following reasons
  1. Possessing proof of Citizenship
  2. Permanent residence
  3. Citizenship grant for adoption
  4. Temporary residence
  • Adding new facilities to speed up the feedback/response of the queries put up by the people who need assistance.
  • Developing a temporary public policy that enables the process of applying for the work permit for visitors/Ukrainians. In simpler words, people who have received the job offer letter can resume their work even if their application is still in process.

Citizens who have an immediate family in Ukraine

The Canadian Government believes in reuniting the separated members of a family, so it becomes important to keep the loved ones safe and together. The Canadian Government offers a lot of programs through which citizens/permanent residents of Canada can sponsor their immediate family members to come to Canada. Then the submitted applications are reviewed to decide whether they should be prioritized or not.

The applications will be prioritized on the following basis.

  • People who have Canadian PR, residency of Canada.
  • The immediate family that you wish to sponsor must be
  • A Ukrainian national living outside Canada
