Beginning this October, the fall season, foreign nationals from Central, South America, or the Caribbean with prolonged family connections in Canada will have the chance to apply for the new humanitarian PR pathway.

However, to be eligible for this new permanent residency pathway, the principal applicant must be a spouse, common-law partner, grandchild, child, parent, sibling, or grandparent of an individual with Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
Applicants who successfully apply will be able to get pre-arrival services. This will include assessing their employment skills and a reference for a settlement service provider firm in their community.

In the initial phase of 2023, IRCC declared its intention to welcome 15,000 migrants from the Western Hemisphere based on Humanitarianism.
