Canada to welcome a new immigration program soon

Canada is underway to introduce a new fast-track immigration program for international students and temporary foreign workers.

Mr. Sean Fraser, the immigration minister, reported to CBC News about the new pathway as a permanent one for temporary residents. Although there will be similarities between the new program and the Temporary Residence to Permanent Residence (TR2PR), they will not be identical. TR2PR widened the possibilities for almost 90,000 essential workers and international graduates in 2021.

Mr. Fraser further reported that they are working toward creating a permanent pathway for temporary residents.

Soon after Mr. Faser was assigned to extend the permanent residence pathways as an initiative for international students and temporary foreign workers.

As per official reports (Canadian House of Commons), Fraser will need to incorporate new strategies and execute them within 120 days.

All the program’s essential details will become available as soon as Fraser reaches his 120-day deadline.

Upcoming Changes to the Express Entry

The Federal Skilled Worker Program and Canadian Experience Class will have candidates applying for both as July begins, but that is not the only upcoming change to the Express Entry.

When Bill C-19 passes through the Senate and eventually becomes law, IRCC will gain authority to send invitations to the Express Entry candidates based on factors including French-language proficiency, education credential, and occupation.

IRCC or Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada will need to indulge in the process of public consultation to select the specific groups of Express Entry candidates who will be invited for such draws.

IRCC will need to explain the economic goals in each instance with an official annual report to Parliament.

Moving to Canada as a temporary resident

As per research, it has been observed that immigrants with Canadian experience tend to earn more and even get employed as compared to those who chose to immigrate directly.

Studying and having work experience in Canada opens new avenues for more immigration programs.

For studying purposes in Canada, you will need acceptance from a Designated Learning Institute and also attain a study permit.

Completing graduation under a full-time study program with at least eight months’ duration will also make you eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit. PGWP is widely used by individuals for gaining Canadian experience.

To be able to work in Canada, it is crucial to possess a work permit. A variety of work permit options, almost a hundred of them, are available under two main categories: the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and International Mobility Program.

Under the Temporary Foreign Worker work permit type, employers should complete the LMIA process. On the contrary, the International Mobility Program is a doorway to the Socioeconomic and cultural priorities in Canada. In the IMP, LMIA is not required because the work permit holders contribute significantly to Canada through their work and it is also the outcome of a reciprocal agreement with another country.

Immigration through Express Entry

Express Entry manages the application system through the main federal economic immigration programs including the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). It is crucial for a candidate to be eligible under any of these programs to remain in the Express Entry pool with other candidates.

Getting into the Express Entry Pool eventually leads to scoring under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). All economic factors your study and work experience, skilled occupation, and language proficiency for the two official languages come under the CRS of evaluating scores.

The higher you score under the CRS, the more you’ll have the chance to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Candidates within the Express Entry Pool will also be invited for Provincial Nomination through PNP. You will also receive additional points equal to 600, which will add up to your CRS score, depending on your response to the invite and also whether you’ll receive a nomination. The 600 points will be considered bonus points which will fetch you an ITA in the following Express Entry.

ITA leads to the application process for Canadian immigration through Express Entry. After you get an invitation to apply, the standard time to process will be six months.
