The latest update provides a useful snapshot of current application trends and can help temporary residents better understand what to expect when submitting an application.
The most notable changes since May 26 are as follows:

- Study permits: up by one week for India-based applications
- Super visas: 10-day improvement for applicants from the U.S.

Understanding Application Timelines And Service Standards
IRCC publishes application timeline estimates to help applicants understand how long a decision may take under current conditions.
These estimates should be viewed as general guidance rather than guaranteed completion dates. Actual timelines can vary depending on several factors, including application volume, document completeness, and whether additional information is required.
IRCC uses two different methods when publishing these estimates:
- Historical estimates: Based on past performance and showing how long it took to finalize about 80% of applications in a category.
- Forward-looking estimates: Based on current inventories and processing capacity to predict how long newly submitted applications may take.
Service standards are different from application timelines. They represent IRCC’s internal goals for completing applications under normal operating conditions.
Generally, the department aims to finalize around 80% of applications within the applicable service standard.
Some applications may be completed faster than expected, while others may take longer due to backlogs, operational pressures, security checks, or file-specific requirements.
IRCC updates application timeline estimates regularly, with most temporary residence categories being refreshed weekly or monthly. Service standards, however, are reviewed less often. The current temporary residence service standards were last updated between 2018 and 2019.
The latest figures suggest that Canada’s temporary residence system remains relatively stable, with several categories showing modest improvements as immigration officials continue working through application inventories.
