Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently developed and launched a tracker which can be used to track immigration status for spousal and child sponsorship. It is made available on the government site and can be accessed by applicants for spousal/common-law and dependent child sponsorship. The representatives for such applications can also access the site.
The immigration department has stated that the information available on the tracker can be altered at any given time before the final decision has been taken on the application. Also, there could be a variance in the tracker and the actual progress of the application.
The information about the tracker was announced by the Canadian immigration minister. This step is part of the advancements of the immigration system of maple country.
“We understand that clients want easier access to status updates on their case files,” a government media release said. “That is why we will also introduce a new Permanent Residence Application Tracker in February 2022 for spouses and dependents, to allow clients to easily access their application information and status online.”
By the summer of this year, the country will try to onboard more immigration streams in the online system. The transition is an effort to minimize the shenanigans involved in the paper-based processing system. This will also eventually help in minimizing the processing duration.
In the press release, the immigration department stated that the action has helped them bring back the processing duration to a year for sponsorship applications as it was earlier.
The country has witnessed a huge backlog of immigration applications in all the streams. As of the end of 2021, 54,683 applications were pending for spousal sponsorship and 8,848 for child and other categories.
