Canada’s PNP results of February 2022 are out

The province of Canada has issued 5,000 invitations for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in February.

The federal, provincial, and territorial governments of Canada coordinate manage the PNP program. This program gives the liberty to the Canadian provinces and territories to invite immigrants through PNP streams to fulfill their labor requirements and to uplift the province’s economy.

The PNP program started in 1998 with the vision of promoting equitable distribution of immigrants among smaller provinces or sparely populated destinations. This objective has really become successful because PNP counts a big share in the uplifting of the economy of various provinces. Various smaller provinces like Prince Edward, Manitoba, Nova Scotia are highly dependent on their PNP to uplift their demographic segment and to meet their labor requirement. It has been estimated that by 2024, there could be seen an increase in Permanent Residents by 93,000 only through Provincial Nominee Program.

PNP linked through Express Entry system

Mostly every province releases its PNP draw which is put in an order with the Express Entry system. The Express Entry system is an online tool of the Canadian Government to vector the procedures of its immigration program. It usually directs 3 immigration programs

Express Entry linked PNP programs are also known as “Enhanced PNP.” This gives the power to the provinces to pick and invite the applicants’ profiles in the Express Entry system to apply for the provincial nomination.

To avoid the delay in processing days and minimize the backlogs which significantly impact the applications of Canadian PR, IRCC has come up with the solution by halting the process of giving invitations of Express Entry to the candidates of FSWP, FSTP, CEC. This is a temporary step to resolve the problem although no dates have been provided as to when the procedure will resume to its original form. But the immigration minister of Canada has indicated that the invitation procedure may resume in the near future. With the realization of the importance of PNP for the provinces and territories, the IRCC has come up with an assurance of inviting PNP candidates through the Express Entry stream once in 14 days.

In the month of February, a total of 2,145 invitations were sent as compared to the previous month where half the amount 1,428 applications were sent.

The province of Alberta

In February, the province of Alberta changed its department’s name and developed 2 new streams to enhance the immigration system for small rural provinces. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program declared the results of the 2 draws in which 350 immigrants were selected to apply for a provincial nomination in the mid of January. Whereas a total of 400 immigrants were invited to apply through the Alberta Express Entry stream on the first day of February.

The selected candidates can apply to some of the most active programs of the province like Skills Immigration, Express Entry British Columbia. A total of 624 immigrants were invited to apply for the provincial nomination

The province released the notification of interest again at the end of the month. But the number fell down to 773 invitations because of the score range of 600 points that was included. Candidates seeking CRS scores more than the maximum limit will lose their eligibility for the nomination.

The province made an announcement regarding the candidates showing interest in receiving an invitation from Entrepreneur Stream that can register an EOI through their online portal instead of the primitive method of connecting to the program to demand an EOI registration.

By the end of the month, 818 invitations were sent to candidates qualifying for the Skilled Trades stream.
