Canada’s provincial immigration outcomes were released

Canada’s provincial immigration outcomes came out for five Canadian provinces. These were British Columbia, New Brunswick, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec, and they issued invitations to the Provincial Nominee Program draws. The provincial governments get to choose the best economic immigration candidates who can easily contribute to the province economically and the labor force. These provinces also have a specific target to invite new immigrants. The 2023 Immigration Levels Plan suggests a target of inviting nearly 105,000 new permanent residents to Canada using PNP.

However, Quebec is one such Canadian province that operates through its separate criteria and not through PNP. This is due to its agreement with the federal government that permits this province to choose economic immigrants who express their interest in settling there.

Ontario

Ontario issued 883 invitations to candidates through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s PhD and Master’s Graduate Stream. The two draws occurred on April 4 only. Under the Master’s Graduate Stream, candidates received 772 invitations, and the least score cut-off was 52 and above. 131 candidates received invitations under the PhD Graduate stream; the score requirement was 48. PhD candidates witnessed the first draw of 2023.

Recently, the province of Ontario also declared an additional investment of $25 million for the upcoming three years to assist in the enhanced immigration levels for skilled immigrants.

This considerable investment, along with IT updates, will undoubtedly expedite the application processing and its security.

British Columbia

Under the British Columbia PNP, the province of British Columbia issued 175 invitations to candidates on April 4. Of these, 175 candidates received invitations in a general draw, implying no target for any specific occupation. The candidates in the Skilled Worker Streams and International Graduate Streams had minimum SIRS scores of 103. Meanwhile, Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled candidates had a SIRS score of 85.

British Columbia also conducted two targeted draws for the occupations below:

  • Seventeen Early Childhood Educators and Assistants, with the least scores of 60.
  • Six Healthcare Workers under the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Express Entry categories- least score of 60.

Canada’s provincial immigration outcomes for Quebec

Quebec issued invitations to 619 candidates on March 30 under the Quebec Regular Skilled Workers Program. Candidates who fulfilled the specific criteria of the TEER NOC codes for numerous in-demand professions received these invitations.

Candidates were supposed to meet the minimum score requirement of 578, along with a valid employment offer away from the territory of the Montreal Metropolitan Community.

New Brunswick

The provincial immigration outcomes under New Brunswick PNP came out on April 4. Overall, 186 candidates received invitations. Of these, 70 belonged to the NB Employment Connection, 42 to the NB Student Connection, and 74 to the NB Occupations-In-Demand Connection.

Moreover, this province also declared its enhanced PNP allocation, accounting for an increase of 67 percent in 2023. After this, the FMRI even proposed introducing a multi-year PNP plan. Before this plan, provinces could only get allocations one at a time.

Alberta

Alberta issued 150 invitations to candidates through Alberta Advantage Immigration Program’s Express Entry stream. The draw occurred on March 30. Candidates had to fulfill a score of 372. Besides this, they were required to show a family connection and possess an in-demand occupation.
