Canada’s travel restrictions to discontinue from October 1

The Canadian government declared that travelers would no longer need to show vaccination proof as the ArriveCan app will not be mandatory. This modification will come into effect on October 1, 2022.

The Public Health Agency of Canada stated that from October 1, 2022, travelers, irrespective of their citizenship, will be exempt from the following requirements.

  • Providing any information regarding public health through the website or ArriveCan app.
  • Submitting the vaccination proof.
  • Experiencing the Covid testing before or after arrival.
  • Living in quarantine or isolation.
  • Analyzing and reporting the development of any symptoms during Covid-19 after landing in Canada.

Apart from this, travelers will not have to wear masks during their journey on trains or flights while in Canada. Canada presently has a high vaccination rate, and this is why PHAC is planning to eliminate travel restrictions in Canada. Not just this, there are other facts such as reduced death rates and hospitalization, along with the accessibility of vaccine booster doses. The government has a strong opinion that travelers must continue wearing masks and keep observing their health.

The Canadian health minister expressed his gratefulness toward the Canadians who fully co-operated for vaccination. Consequently, they’re now in a position to abolish all the health-related travel restrictions within the country.

On the other hand, he even looked at the situation from another perspective. He further stated that the country would likely experience the spread of viruses, specifically in the winter season. He requested everyone to remain updated with the vaccination and even step up to get the booster doses. It will also be better to continue with public health measures individually.

ArriveCan will remain an option only

Travelers coming to Canada from abroad will now have an option to choose the ArriveCan. This implies that it will not be compulsory. Travelers will not be required to disclose or update their travel plans and present the vaccination proof on the app before the CBSA agents.

Domestic travel will have zero requirements

The global perception of Covid-19 has resulted in the declaration of no requirements for domestic travel. The number of cases has deteriorated with the increase in the number of vaccinated people. The virus has normalized in the form of the common cold rather than the pandemic.

Canada ended the requirements for vaccination for domestic travel in June. Earlier in June, government officials stated that the removal of these vaccine restrictions was largely due to the enhanced conditions in the health of Canada’s public. As recorded, 90 percent of Canadians remained vaccinated.

612 million Covid cases emerged globally, and more than six million deaths at the beginning of the pandemic. However, the estimate could even be higher as, in several cases, individuals don’t even get their tests done.
