IRCC confirmed its backlog growth to a surprising figure of 2.4 million people. The past month witnessed a backlog growth with an additional 257, 499 people. This backlog growth resulted because of a drastic increase in temporary residency applications.
There are a total of 394,664 applications within the Citizenship inventory as of June 1, 2022. There are 522, 047 individuals within the permanent residency from June 6 onwards.
There is backlog growth concerning the temporary residence inventory with 1,471,173 individuals from June 6 onwards.
The backlog has seen a significant rise as compared to last summer.
- From June 1- 6, 2022- the backlog increased to 2,387, 884 individuals.
- April 30- May 2, 2022- the backlog increased to 2,130, 385 individuals.
- April 11-12, 2022- the backlog increased to 2, 031, 589 individuals.
- March 15 and 17, 2022- the backlog increased to 1, 844, 424 individuals.
- February 1, 2022- the backlog increased to 1,815, 628 individuals.
- December 15, 2021- the backlog increased to 1,813, 144 individuals.
- October 27, 2021- the backlog increased to 1, 792, 404 individuals.
- July 6, 2021- the backlog increased to 1, 447, 474 individuals.
An Improved Express Entry Backlog
The three economic streams of the Express Entry have witnessed inventory growth in the previous month. The current growth totals 31, 603 individuals compared to figure 40, 889 toward the end of April.
The inventory of the Canadian Experience Class equals 6,088 people compared to 7,522 individuals as of April 29, 2022.
The inventory of FSWP equals 25, 081 individuals compared to 32, 883 individuals.
The inventory of FSTP equals 434 individuals compared to 424 individuals toward the end of April.
IRCC decided to pause the applications for Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trade Program.

Improvements in Quebec Skilled Worker and PNP inventory
The Quebec Skilled Worker’s inventory saw a major decline to 27, 146 individuals as compared to 32, 130 toward the end of April.

Family Class Inventory is on the rise
The family class’s inventory has risen to 112, 837 individuals from 108, 863 individuals. The Spouses, Partners, and Children Program stands at 67, 929 individuals compared to the previous number of 67, 102 individuals.
The Parents and Grandparents Program has also witnessed a rise with 41, 802 individuals as compared to 38, 478 individuals. IRCC will soon announce the details of the PGP 2022. As per the recent announcement, PGP will allow specific parents and grandparents to continue staying in Canada for up to seven years under the Super Visa.
The backlog of Temporary Residence grows to 200, 000 individuals
The current figure for the temporary residence backlog accounts for 1, 471,173 individuals. There has been a significant increase of 216, 382 individuals from the previous figure of 1,200,791 individuals as of April 29.
The current state of growth for the temporary residence inventory appears normal. There’s also a sense of seasonal component associated with the temporary residence because of the segmentation of people who’re looking to move to Canada between the Spring and Fall. Usually, international students submit their applications at a specific time so that they can go ahead with their studies as soon as the Academic year begins (late August and early September).
