The Provincial Nominee Program in Canada is exclusive to immigrants from the economic class.
The Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024 declares PNP the primary economic-class immigration program for the current year as well as the upcoming year.
As recorded over the recent years, Express Entry has maintained to be the main immigration pathway.
Usually, the provinces and territories operate in separate PNPs; exceptions are Quebec and Nunavut. Each territory and province work well in alignment with the Express Entry System having at least one immigration stream associated.
What does Enhanced PNP imply?
When the territories and provinces select and nominate specific candidates as per the Express Entry system to meet the local and provincial labor needs, these nominations are called Enhanced Provincial Nominations.
How do Enhanced PNPs operate?
To qualify for an Enhanced PNP, the candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria in at least one of the Express Entry immigration streams. The economic immigration streams include the FSWP, FSTP, and CEC.
An Express Entry candidate who happens to meet the eligibility requirements under the PNP will receive a nomination from the province which is not similar to the invitation to apply for Canadian PR. The candidate then is required to reply to the invitation by applying for permanent residence in the province.
Candidates receive an additional 600 points adding to their base score under the CRS system, provided they belong to the Express Entry profile and have received a nomination too. This point system further guarantees an invitation to apply in the next round of Express Entry invitations.
In general terms, PNP eligibility concerns factors related to work experience, language ability, and education. These might also require settlement funds with the intention of moving to the province you have been nominated for.
