Express Entry in 2023 will witness a variety of changes. Essentially, Express Entry is a digital system that manages skilled worker applications through three different streams, including the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and FSTP.
Overall, the Express Entry system is responsible for welcoming internationally skilled workers to Canada via permanent residence.
Express Entry will execute the possible modifications under the system as early as possible, be in 2023’s first quarter.
Ways in which Express Entry is likely to change
Canada is ready to confront the challenges of the labor shortage and other requirements of the Canadian economy. Additionally, IRCC revealed its intention to hold targeted draws under Express Entry in 2023.
The Express Entry draws will welcome more candidates based on essential factors, such as language, occupation, and education, to search for appropriate skilled and aspiring candidates for permanent residence to contribute to Canada’s economy.
Sean Fraser claims that the current all-program Express Entry draws don’t perfectly align with Canada’s in-demand skills and fail to welcome the most suitable Foreign Nationals.
Moreover, the specifications of the new draws, based on language, occupation, and educational credentials, remain uncertain as of now.
Besides this, IRCC claims it will contact several stakeholders to formulate the details of Express Entry’s new structure with its new categories.
Some more details
At present, IRCC has decided to continue holding Express Entry draws. Additionally, once every two weeks, applicants applying under any of the streams: FSWP, the Federal Skilled Trade Person, and CEC will receive ITAs for Canadian permanent residence. They will receive the ITA’s according to the CRS scores.
Scores under the Comprehensive Ranking System have been the chief factor for determining the possibility of receiving the invitation. However, these scores will be given based on several factors. These include age, occupation, language skills, and work experience in Canada. The candidates will receive invitations to apply per the new factors.
In the first quarter of 2023, the Express Entry system will shift toward bringing immigrants who will emphasize the labor market requirements. The system will rely more on economic factors than the CRS scores.
Moreover, these targeted draws will aim to witness higher retention rates. Apart from this, they will seek to solidify the Canadian labor market. The retention rates will cater to those who particularly settle in communities. Fraser further stated that immigrants would come depending upon where exactly they will find more scope and opportunities.
