Fifth Express Entry all-program draw sent increased ITAs

IRCC recently conducted the fifth Express Entry all-program draw, while the first one was held on July 6. IRCC sent 2,750 ITAs to candidates under the Comprehensive Ranking System with a minimum score of 516. The latest draw wasn’t program-specific and candidates under the Canadian Experience Class and FSWP could also receive invitations.

All this while, that is, before July 6, IRCC had to pause the all-program draws under the Express Entry system for a long time of 18 months. The pause began in December 2020. During the pause period, only eligible candidates under CEC or PNP could receive an invitation to apply. Thereafter, even the CEC draws had to pause in September 2021.

The number of PR applications had drastically increased and the surge was largely unmanageable. This situation resulted from the pandemic. The Canadian borders had to close, and several travel restrictions came into effect.

The latest Express Entry draw has increased the ITA level to 500 straight away. The level of ITAs kept increasing by 250 with each draw since the first time it was resumed. The first draw sent 1,500 invitations, while the second one sent 1,750 invitations to eligible candidates. The minimum CRS score declined gradually with a deterioration of about eight to nine points with each draw. Initially, the minimum CRS score was calculated to be 557.

Express Entry Draw- an explanation

Express Entry manages immigration applications online through three primary economic immigration programs. These programs include the FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. PNP candidates with already existing profiles under Express Entry immediately qualify for at least one of the economic immigration programs.

The Comprehensive Ranking System is used by Express Entry to evaluate candidates against each other based on certain factors. Candidates receiving higher scores undoubtedly receive an ITA for Permanent Residency application.

IRCC officers are responsible for reviewing the applications of the candidates. Once they review the application, they’re able to decide the candidate’s status. In case they aren’t convinced, they might ask the candidates to submit the Biometrics, call them for an interview, or even require additional documents. After the officer satisfies all his doubts, you will get approval for permanent residence. Once you acquire a permanent residency status, you will also hold Canadian citizenship.

Future strategies

IRCC intends to modify the Express Entry system by 2023, authorizing IRCC to select candidates on more specific factors. The factors will include candidates with appropriate work experience, education, language proficiency, and those who have the potential to contribute immensely to the Canadian economy. As a result, they’ll be able to meet the labor force requirements. CRS scores will lose their importance in the upcoming time concerning future draws.

Sean Fraser even justified these Express Entry changes in June during a technology conference. He stated that if they could predict skills that would be essential in the future, keeping in mind, the next 20 to 30 years, they could create a much-needed impact on the economy.
