Five Canadian provinces nominated candidates in PNP draws. These include British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, and Quebec.
The provincial and federal governments share responsibilities for immigration. The Provincial Nominee Program nomination of a candidate supports that individual’s candidacy for PR status. This is particularly true for Express Entry applicants. They instantly receive 600 more Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points when nominated.
Nunavut and Quebec don’t use the PNP. Quebec and the federal government have a special arrangement that gives it complete authority in choosing which economic immigration schemes to implement.
