IRCC extended support to communities with new initiatives.
Marc Miller unveiled ideas to enhance Canada’s immigration framework on October 31st. To assist in direct changes and fortify the immigration system, IRCC has held public and stakeholder consultations all year long.
To execute its new immigration policy, An Immigration System for Canada’s Future, IRCC has been considering these suggestions.
Guidelines outlined in the strategy include the following:
- Enhancing the IRCC’s service standard, promoting francophone immigration in Canadian communities.
- Helping smaller communities attract and retain newcomers.
- Modernizing the system to make it easier for newcomers to submit and track their applications.
- Better matching the needs of the labor market with the immigration system.
IRCC extended support to communities with new initiatives
Planning Canada’s immigration levels should take into account housing and healthcare needs, among other crucial services, according to one of the IRCC’s primary goals.
The number of new permanent residents that Canada will accept in the upcoming years is determined annually by the IRCC. In order for the federal government, provinces, territories, and municipalities to combine housing, health care, and infrastructure with these figures, a more integrated strategy must be developed.
Additionally, the IRCC seeks to investigate ways to target assistance for integrating and settling recent arrivals more effectively. “We want to provide the right services at the right time,” the approach states.
What are the new initiatives?
While doing this, the IRCC will search for chances to provide funding for projects that improve community relations and expand services in mid-sized, rural, and northern regions. Additionally, the IRCC wants to broaden the services provided by Francophones to newcomers who are Francophones in official language minorities outside of Quebec. In addition, it seeks to enhance access to digital settlement services.
In order to promote more affordable homes, IRCC also intends to investigate methods that would maximize the investment made by immigrants. IRCC will investigate and modify an immigration route for foreign nationals seeking to invest in and develop new housing in Canada to achieve this.
Lastly, the IRCC wants to investigate ways to improve immigration within regions. This involves being more cognizant of the special requirements and advantages that smaller, rural, and Francophone minorities have.
In pursuit of this objective, IRCC will consider alternatives for extending the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) to additional communities nationwide. Further, it will work to make it a permanent program.
By providing a path for foreign nationals who wish to work and remain in smaller communities to get permanent residency, the RNIP is a community-driven initiative that aims to share the advantages of immigration to these areas.
IRCC will work on improving Francophone minority communities and increasing their demographic weight. It will create a new Francophone Immigration Policy. In addition to supporting French-speaking immigrants’ settlement and incorporation in these minority areas, the program will increase promotion and selection efforts.
