IRCC Invites 6300 Applicants In The Latest Express Entry Draws

IRCC invites 6300 applicants in the latest Express Entry draws. Applicants required a minimum score of 515 to be considered.

Well, the recent minimum CRS score represents the lowest score of the year in a non-category-based selection draw & is also lower than the last CEC-only draw on May 31.

So far this month IRCC has issued over 17,361 ITAs over six separate draws.

Yesterday, IRCC invited 1,319 applicants in a PNP-only draw with a minimum CRS of 670. Before that, IRCC most recently invited 3,200 applicants in a category-based selection draw for French proficiency on July 8.

CRS scores for PNP-Only Express Entry draws tend to be higher than average because Express Entry applicants who have been successfully nominated for the PNP automatically obtain an additional 600 CRS points on top of their existing score. For example, an Express Entry applicant with a score of 300 who is successfully nominated will further have an overall CRS of 900.

What Is Express Entry?

Express Entry manages three immigration programs, i.e., Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Federal Skilled Worker Program. Every program is a way to attain permanent residency in Canada.

These programs use the Comprehensive Ranking System in order to evaluate immigration applicants based on human capital factors/ attributes like age, education, language ability, work experience, etc. Moreover, each factor obtains a score, and the total creates an applicant’s CRS score.

The system was introduced in 2015. It was a way for IRCC to expedite processing time for successful applicants. In addition, the department has a published service standard of six months for these applications.

What Is Category-Based Selection?

IRCC invites 6300 applicants in the latest Express Entry draws.

Well, the category-based selection was launched in 2023 as a way for the immigration department to further target the Express Entry applicants who are likely to help Canada fill urgent gaps in its workforce or strengthen a demographic.

To that end, IRCC introduced six categories in 2023 and earlier this year declared that they would remain in place into 2025. They are:

  • Healthcare
  • STEM Professions
  • Trades
  • Transport
  • Agriculture or Agri-Food
  • French Language Proficiency

In addition, draws for this category are not program-specific and permanent resident applicants must be in the Express Entry application pool to be eligible.
