IRCC issued 400 ITAs to CEC applicants in the latest draw, wherein applicants required a minimum score of 539 to be considered.
The recent draw was the second Express Entry draw of the week. The last one occurred on October 21 & invited 648 Provincial Nominee Program with a minimum CRS score of at least 791.
In recent months, IRCC has developed a pattern of holding multiple Express Entry draws every second week, including at least one PNP-only draw. Counting the recent draw, the department has issued over 12,815 ITAs of this type since May 30.
This highlights IRCC’s ongoing commitment to increasing the number of domestic draws for Express Entry candidates already residing & working in Canada as temporary residents. This aims to help the department meet both its targets for reducing the number of temporary residents in Canada while also meeting the targeted number of permanent residents Canada will admit each year as outlined in the Immigration Levels Plan.
The next plan will come into being by November 1 this year, with targets for 2025-2027. The year 2024 planned to welcome around 110,770 candidates. So far, the details haven’t been released if IRCC met that target.
Furthermore, those who obtain an ITA in draws throughout the second half of the year are more likely to be admitted in 2025 due to IRCC’s service standards of six months for processing Express Entry applications.
What Is Express Entry?
IRCC issued 400 ITAs to CEC applicants in the latest draw. Apart from this, Express Entry is an application management system that oversees three of Canada’s most prominent economic immigration programs. The programs include the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), the Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), & the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
These programs use the CRS to single out the candidates who will fill urgent gaps in Canada’s labor force.
It does this by examining a candidate’s human capital factors, such as age, education, language ability, work experience, etc. Each factor obtains a score, which is added together to get an overall CRS score.
CRS scores are often higher in PNP draws. Well, that’s because Express Entry candidates automatically obtain an additional 600 points.
Candidates might also obtain points for having a family in Canada or immigrating with a spouse/ partner.
Those with the highest scores will likely obtain an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
