IRCC Issues ITAs In A French Draw With A Low CRS Cut-Off

IRCC issues ITAs in a French draw with a low CRS cut-off, i.e., Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued another round of invitations to apply (ITAs) through the Expres Entry system.

In this latest draw, IRCC invited 6,000 candidates who have strong French language skills. This is one of the largest French-based draws of the year and features the second-lowest CRS score requirement in 2025.

To be selected in this draw, candidates needed:

  • A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 408
  • An Express Entry profile created before 12:28 p.m. Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on May 26, 2025

This draw highlights the importance IRCC continues to place on French-speaking talent, as Canada works to support and grow its Francophone communities.

The recent draw for French-language candidates marks the eighth French-focused draw in 2025. These draws have become a major part of IRCC’s Express Entry strategy. The draw is also tied as the third-largest Express Entry draw of the year, matching the size of several major rounds earlier in 2025.

Over the past 11 months, candidates with French proficiency have received the highest number of ITAs compared with other Express Entry categories. In the latest draw, 42,000 French-speaking candidates have received invitations.

Moreover, French-language draws had the biggest sizes this year. They made up the seven largest Express Entry draws in 2025, with 7,500 to 4,500 ITAs issued in each of those rounds.

This recent draw is the sixth Express Entry draw in November, showing that IRCC has been very active this month.

It follows three other major draws:

The mix of draws shows IRCC’s balanced focus across its key pathways, i.e., PNP, CEC, French, and priority occupation categories such as healthcare, education, and trades.

So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 94,476 ITAs across all Express Entry draws.

Moreover, Express Entry draws this year have primarily focused on PNP draws, with the remainder of Express Entry ITAs dedicated to CEC applicants, applicants with French-language proficiency, and those in the Express Entry priority occupation categories:

Draw Type Number Of Draws
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) 22
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) 13
French-language proficiency 8
Healthcare and social services 6
Education 2
Trade 1

The table below shows ITAs by stream type, with French category draws and the CEC program issuing the majority of invitations:
