Can I Update My Express Entry Profile After I Submit It?

Express Entry applicants can update their profiles after they have submitted them, provided that they remain eligible.

This can be specifically beneficial for factors like an applicant’s language score or work experience, as increases in these areas can yield substantial corresponding gains in CRS scores.

It is the responsibility of Express Entry applicants to update their profiles whenever relevant changes in their circumstances occur. Information in an applicant profile must always be truthful.

If an applicant obtains an ITA based on false or outdated information presented in their applicant profile, they may be found ineligible for the invitation.

Continuing to apply for permanent residence based on false information contained within an applicant profile can constitute misinterpretation, which is a form of fraud that can carry serious consequences in the context of Canadian immigration. Misinterpretation can even occur by mistake, such as if an applicant provided information that they did not realize was false.

Applicants found guilty of misinterpretation can have their permanent resident status and even their Canadian citizenship revoked. In addition, applicants might need to pay a fine and even be barred from applying for Canadian immigration for a certain time period.
