IRCC Sent 3000 ITAs in Latest Draw for CEC Candidates

Canada’s immigration department has recently released the results of the most recent Express Entry draw. IRCC sent 3000 ITAs in latest draw for CEC candidates. It was another program-specific draw where the department targeted Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates.

Candidates who had a minimum CRS score of 522 were considered for the invitation in this draw. This CEC-specific Express Entry draw was the first such draw since September 14, 2021.

Also, this was the second draw of the week, which took place after the PNP-specific Express Entry draw of May 30.

This week’s program-specific draws are also the first such draws since the implementation of category-based selection draws in May 2023.

Notably, many PNP and CEC candidates are already residing in Canada as TR. This shows Canada’s recent commitment to holding more domestic draws. It will help convert more TR to PR and lower the level of temporary residents in Canada.

The difference between Program-specific and general draws.

Under the Express Entry, the program-specific draws and general draws are two distinct draw types. The program-specific draws consider candidates from the Express Entry pool who applied under the specific PR program. On the contrary, the general draw considers candidates from all the programs in the Express Entry System.

Express Entry Draws Prior to CEC Specific Draw

On May 30, IRCC held an Express Entry draw after a month-long pause since April 24. The department invited 2985 candidates under the PNP-specific Express Entry draw, with a CRS score of 676.

IRCC department did not reveal the reason for the pause but said that in 2024, the draws will occur based on a predetermined program.

Prior to this pause, IRCC conducted four Express Entry draws on April 10 and 11 and then on April 23 and 24.

In April’s first draw, IRCC invited 1,280 candidates in a general draw with a CRS score of 549. In April’s second draw, it invited 4,500 STEM-skilled candidates with a CRS score of 491.

April’s third draw invited 2,095 candidates in a general draw with a score of 529, and in the fourth draw, IRCC invited 1,400 candidates in a French proficiency category-based selection draw with a CRS score of 410.

Canadian Express Entry System

Canada offers an easy PR pathway for immigrants to move to Canada. It governs three immigration programs for managing economic immigrant applications:

  • FSWP: Federal Skilled Worker Program,
  • CEC:  Canadian Experience Class, and
  • FSTP: Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Each program uses a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assess candidates based on different features, including:

  • Work experience,
  • Occupation,
  • Language ability,
  • Age,
  • Education.

Each factor has a score, and all are added together to form a final CRS score. Candidates with high CRS scores have a greater chance of receiving invitations.

Last May, IRCC also announced the launch of new draws based on categories called category-based selection draws. These draws consider candidates based on their language abilities and specific work experience. These include the following six categories:

  • Healthcare professions
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Trades professions
  • Transport professions
  • Agriculture and agri-food professions
  • Strong French proficiency

IRCC will use these same categories for this year and may change them for 2025 category-based draws. To gain an invitation under these draws, candidates have to be in the Express Entry pool and meet the specific draw requirement.

So, these are the details of the draw, in which IRCC sent 3000 ITAs in the latest draw for CEC candidates.
