The department’s service standards indicate the timeline, either weeks or months, that could be appropriate to determine the outcome of the applications.

In addition, applicants must be aware that the application processing can be time-consuming. This implies that sometimes, applications might take longer to process and exceed the standard service timeline based on their application type and the location from which they must be applying.
IRCC’s timeline for processing TR applications in 2024
Typically, the immigration department claims to process at least 80 percent of the applications in all business fields within the standard processing time. This includes all TR business lines, excluding International Experience Canada work permits.
Notably, IRCC states that only complete applications fall under its service standards. The final and complete applications include all supporting documents and other additional information. The standard timeline doesn’t include the time to send an application to an IRCC office from a Visa Application Center. It also doesn’t include the time an applicant takes to submit biometrics.

Work Permits
IRCC makes it evident that the below content will not include work permits under the special measure of the Canada-Ukraine Authorization Emergency Travel.

- Work permit extension applications in Canada will have a standard service of 120 days per IRCC.
- IEC work permit applications will have a service standard of 56 days or less than that.
Please note that IRCC claims to reach its service standards for 100 percent of the IEC applications submitted to it.

Providing the employers with LMIA exemptions or work permits to employers within the IRCC service standard of 14 days.
Study Permits
New study permit application submissions outside Canada within IRCC’s service standard of 60 days. Also, submission of new study permit submissions and extensions in Canada will have a service standard of 120 days, according to IRCC.
Visitor Visa and ETA
The fresh Visitor Visa application submission outside Canada has an IRCC service standard of 14 days. On the other hand, new applications for parents and Grandparents or those concerning Super Visa outside Canada will have a standard service of 112 days, according to IRCC.
Electronic Travel Authorization
According to the service standards of IRCC, ETA applicants must receive automatic approval within five minutes. If they don’t get the approval response within five minutes, they must obtain the following steps within 72 hours.
