Manitoba PNP Holds The First Immigration Draw Of April

Manitoba PNP holds the first immigration draw of April, i.e., on April 9, 2026, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted its latest immigration draw. This was the first draw held by the province in April. Candidates were selected under both pathways of the Skilled Worker Stream.

Only those candidates were invited who had clearly mentioned that they were directly invited by the MPNP through a strategic recruitment initiative.

Draw Details And Results

In this draw, Manitoba issued a total of 32 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs). This number is lower compared to earlier draws but still shows ongoing activity in the program.

The invitations were sent through both pathways under the Skilled Worker Stream:

  • Skilled Worker in Manitoba; and
  • Skilled Worker Overseas.

Among all selected candidates, the highest number of LAAs went to those who applied under the “Employer Services” recruitment initiative. This group received about 31% of all invitations.

Here is the complete breakdown of LAAs issued under different strategic recruitment initiatives:

Strategic Recruitment Initiative  Number Of LAAs Issued
Employer Services  10
Francophone Community
Ethnocultural Communities
Regional Communities
Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP)

Out of the 32 invitations, eight candidates had a valid Express Entry profile and also provided a job seeker validation code.

When compared to the previous draw held on March 12 (EOI Draw #267), this round invited fewer candidates. In March, a total of 46 candidates were invited under the Skilled Worker Stream. This means the April draw had about 30% fewer invitations.

With this latest draw, the total number of LAAs issued by Manitoba in 2026 has reached 281 so far.

Reasons For Not Receiving An LAA

Some candidates may meet the selection criteria but still not receive an LAA. According to the MPNP, there can be a few common reasons for this:

  • The candidate mentioned taking an approved English or French test but did not enter a valid test number, or the test results had already expired; or
  • The candidate claimed to have received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) under a strategic recruitment initiative, but the invitation number provided was incorrect or invalid.

In such cases, candidates are advised to update their Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with correct and complete details. This helps improve their chances of being selected in future draws. The EOI system also provides help text for each section to guide applicants on what information should be entered.

Understanding Strategic Recruitment Initiatives

Strategic recruitment initiatives are special programs organized by the MPNP from time to time. These often include overseas recruitment missions where Manitoba employers look for skilled workers.

During these missions, program officials and employers meet potential candidates. They share job opportunities and explain how immigration pathways work in Manitoba.

Interested candidates need to follow official announcements from the MPNP. They may need to register for events or submit their resume and other required details to take part in the process.

What Are Exploratory Visits?

An exploratory visit is a short visit to Manitoba planned in advance. It allows skilled workers to explore the province before applying for immigration.

This visit helps candidates understand if they can settle in Manitoba with their family. It also gives immigration officials a chance to meet and assess the candidate.

To arrange such a visit, skilled workers must submit a request to the MPNP. If the request is approved, the program sends an official invitation along with next steps. These visits are not open to everyone and are only allowed with approval from the program.

During the visit, candidates can explore different communities, check job opportunities, and meet employers. They may also speak with professional bodies if their job requires licensing. In addition, they can look into housing, schools, and daily life in the province.

The MPNP may also conduct an interview during this visit. After this process, a formal invitation may be issued.

It is important to note that only the official invitation — not just the visit — creates a valid connection to Manitoba for applying under the program.
