Manitoba sent 273 invites in a new PNP draw

Manitoba announced the results of the new draw conducted on 10th February.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) sent invites in three Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

They are mentioned below:

  1. Skilled Workers in Manitoba — 202 invites with a threshold of 615;
  2. Skilled Workers Overseas — 31 invites with a threshold of 705; and
  3. International Education Stream — 40 invites with no threshold.

Sixty-eight of them were for the Express Entry pool.

Express Entry

Express Entry is an application management system for three federal high-skilled immigration programs.

They are:

  1. The Canadian Experience Class (CEC),
  2. The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and
  3. The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

Applicants need to create a profile and update their demographic details. Based on the information, they get a score that decides their ranking. The applicants who get the highest scores are invited to request permanent residency. The process happens with a drawing method.

One can directly get an invite to apply for PR through Express Entry. However, if they get a nomination from any province, it increases their chances significantly. Extra 600 points get added to the individual’s base score, which apparently guarantees a seat in the upcoming draw. They get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) if they are selected in any draw.

Manitoba Immigration Streams

Manitoba handles all the streams under MPNP. Provinces do not have any authority to give permanent residency, so they help the federal government by issuing nominations.

For people seeking the nomination, they will have to sign up for Expression of Interest (EOI). The Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams then provide LAA through MPNP. These two streams help identify applicants who will suit the requirements of the labour force.

Manitoba provides scores out of 1000, and a ranking is generated based on the details you provided. They also consider if you have any connection to the province or not. Foreign applicants have to establish and demonstrate some sort of connection. That could be family ties, professional experience or an invite from the ongoing hiring Initiatives of Manitoba. It is not necessary to reside in Manitoba while applying.

The Skilled Workers in Manitoba category requires a valid job offer from the province for an individual to become eligible for the stream.

The International Education Stream allows applicants who have in-demand skills and have completed their education from Manitoba.
