Marc Miller introduced a fast-track CAN Work Philippines Program at IRCC’s visa office in Manila. The pilot program will enhance the work permit processing for Canadian employers. As a result, they will have permission to organize collective appointments for medical examinations and biometrics. This way, eligible workers with the right skills from the Philippines can arrive in Canada.
This pilot program is specifically for those Canadian employers who are carrying out their recruitment in the Philippines. This applies to employers looking forward to hiring over fifty workers, especially in critical occupations. These occupations could be healthcare, construction, and agri-food.
If they would like to become a part of this program, employers must comply with hiring guidelines that are non-biased and morally elevated. The International Organization for Migration officially revealed this.
IRCC will also invest $200,000 in the IOM to demonstrate its consent toward a just and morally appropriate recruitment method in the Philippines. As a result, this funding offered to the IOM will enable the seamless working process between the IOM and the government of the Philippines. Additionally, the department will hold training sessions and enhance IOM’s Fair and Ethical Recruitment Due Diligence Toolkit. IRCC will spread awareness about this toolkit among firms keen on recruiting skilled workers from the Philippines.
Marc Miller introduced a fast-track CAN Work Philippines Program
Marc Miller claimed that each year, numerous skilled workers worldwide will get their skills to Canada. This will eventually help Canada retain its Canadian labor market and enhance its economy. Also, the initiative will bring forth a considerable number of new immigrants to Canada from the Philippines.
The CAN Work Philippines will also benefit those in the global race looking to hire talented individuals. This pilot program will also help the industries so that they can combat the existing labor shortage.
Miller even reiterated that they only seek to keep up their promise of just and ethical recruitment practices by investing in IOM. Furthermore, the funding will ensure that the Temporary Foreign Workers will have good health, security, and a standard lifestyle.
The Philippines continues to be a massive source of new immigrants in Canada. This pilot program will solidify the social connection between the two nations. It will also address Canadian labor shortages within the economy and revive Canada’s position as the top destination for talented and skilled people.
