Canada’s immigration system has not been able to respond effectively in recent years, and IRCC would like to rectify this.
There are several matters that IRCC is looking forward to, and they’re as follows:
- Syncing the labor market requirements with the immigration system.
- Making the immigration system more modern to welcome newcomers for easier submission of applications. Besides, it will make it simpler for applicants to track their applications.
- Enhancing the service standard processing of IRCC’s applications.
- Enabling smaller communities to welcome and retain newcomers.
- Promoting French-speaking immigration in communities throughout Canada.
Reportedly, IRCC has also brought forth three pillars and several actions to help maintain Canada’s status as an excellent destination for new immigrants. They’re as follows:

Develop an enhanced experience for new immigrants
IRCC claims it operates to execute a happy and user-friendly experience for all those utilizing the services. Digital Platform Modernization will be critical for implementing these initiatives as it is a new functional platform.
According to IRCC, this new digital platform will help fulfill productivity while permitting it to access the record target of working, living, studying, and visiting in Canada per the level of demand.
The platform comprises of a few of the new capabilities:
- A single digital window into immigration programs.
- Digital Self-Service and;
- Enhanced Automation

While speaking, Marc Miller emphasized the significance of aligning immigration with Canadian labor market requirements. This includes offering more prospects to international students and temporary workers having in-demand skills to reside in Canada.
The department’s report also targeted the Express Entry category-based draws for candidates showcasing work experience in key industries. It is also one of the topmost methods of welcoming talented immigrants.
Besides, IRCC is also on the verge of developing a new position of a Chief International Talent Officer to merge Canadian immigration policies with a far-sighted skills and labor strategy.
In addition, the officer will need to perform the following duties:
- Gather more information about the skills required by Canada for planning the future.
- Making sure that immigration perfectly syncs with Canada’s labor market and industrial strategies.
Building a comprehensive and collaborative progressive plan

Furthermore, Miller even claimed that several new immigrants leave Canada due to the increasing number of affordability challenges, housing, and international credential recognition.
According to IRCC, the national and regional immigration programs will prove crucial for growth and helping the Canadian economy prosper. This is the Atlantic Immigration Program.
Notably, the department also witnessed a rise in requirements to help temporary and permanent residents. IRCC will have the chance to navigate increased options to establish an integrated plan. In addition, it will collaborate on housing, infrastructure, and healthcare between the federal government departments. It will also partner with provinces, territories, and municipalities.
The reconstruction of IRCC
In early 2023, IRCC formulated a report from Neil Yeates, the previous Deputy Immigration Minister. This report will help assess the existing structure of IRCC and if it is impactful in enabling IRCC to get a mandate.
This report by Yeates laid out the following recommendations associated with reorganizing IRCC. The new structure will be aligned with the business-based structure. It will also look into the following:
